Clean White Kitchen With Shaker Cabinets and Pink Rug
Interior designer Becki Owens chose Shaker-style cabinets for this crisp white kitchen. "The clean, simplistic lines of this style of cabinetry not only stand the test of time, but give your home a fresh, more modern look when paired with a simple backsplash or a mitered-edge counter," she says. "I like to pair Shaker-style cabinetry with white subway tile and natural wood in either open shelving or styled accents on the counters. This combo is always a win. You can switch out your lighting, hardware and accessories over the years to play with the overall look of your space, but these key elements create a foundation that will have your home looking beautiful for years to come."

Other good choices for early season flowers include pansy, forget-me-not, snapdragon, flowering stock and sweet alyssum. In beds, plant bloomers in blocks for a punch of can’t-miss color.

Instead, take the time to hit antique stores and consignment shops to find the perfect pieces for your new home. Catherine found the $25 rattan coffee table base in her living room at Atlanta's Scott's Antique Market and had a piece of glass cut to fit.
Catherine uses Thibaut Tanzania wallpaper in black on cream in her home's only bathroom to give it real impact. "Since it was our only bathroom," says Catherine, she decided to "make it fun." Even the ceiling is wallpapered for maximum effect.
