Traditional Dining Room with Contemporary Elements
As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It Too, Jillian Harris' overall design for Joyce and Steven was a mix of both their desires. Joyce wanted a timeless design that would stand the test of time and Steven wanted it to be contemporary. Big and open was another wish, so that they could fulfill their entertaining needs. The wall that separated the kitchen from the dining room was removed. The previous walls were all Popcorn Walls, now refinished and painted Silver Drop dining and living room. The Oak hardwood floors throughout the main floor were refinished. There are new casings on all the windows throughout the main floor. Within the dining room are two built-in China Cabinets, white with glass doors that were rebuilt. The ceilings were just above the windows and the greatest design surprise for Jillian was being able to open the space up by vaulting the ceilings.
White Kitchen Sitting Area With Panel-Glass Windows
One end of this light-filled white kitchen, which shares a wall of panel-glass windows with the adjacent dining room, has been transformed into a cozy sitting area furnished with a lovely antique loveseat.
Bright, Contemporary Eat-In Kitchen With Cheery Yellow Accents
Pops of yellow add cheerfulness to this spacious eat-in kitchen. A casual dining area features six tufted white chairs, two gray chevron chairs and a dark wood dining table. A drum pendant light and natural light from the large window illuminate the bright space.
Covered Outdoor Sitting Area With Dark Wood Ceiling
This spacious covered sitting area features a dark wood beadboard ceiling paired with neutral tones, as seen in the stone patio tiles. Two brown wicker outdoor sofas boast comfy neutral cushions and striped throw pillows, while a distressed coffee table provides a rustic touch. An outdoor kitchen is located nearby.
This outdoor kitchen features the eye-catching architectural detail of columns. Ceiling fans keep things cool on hot days, while a built-in grill unit has a sink and storage space for convenient meal prep. A dining area features a dining table and cushioned chairs.
This library and sitting area provides a sophisticated way to relax and read. Traditional furniture and a large area rug paired with modern built-in bookshelves create a contemporary space with an eclectic twist.
A wall of windows abuts a wall of mirrors in this oceanfront living room, creating a dreamy space that feels almost as if it's floating on a cloud. Walls, floors and furnishings are light and neutral, while warm wood accents ground the space and provide warmth. Sheer draperies layered beneath eggshell-hued panels add to the room's ethereal feel.
Red and brown hues in the counters offset a light green wall color. A farmhouse sink pops against dark counters and cabinetry. Floating shelves offer a convenient space for kitchen necessities while still retaining a sleek, clean appearance.
Off-white End Table with Blown-glass Lamp near Upholstered Headboard and Metallic-printed Wallpaper
Tones of metallic silver and gold create a space that's rich and elegant. Materials mix to bring nuance and depth -- from the blown-glass lamp to the upholstered, hammered headboard and the scrollwork wallpaper.
Neutral, Modern Parlor for More Intimate Entertaining Space
The homeowners wanted a parlor for more intimate entertaining, so designers created a warm, inviting space to meet their needs. To keep the space bright and light, designers took advantage of the tropical sunlight. A wall of windows to the right of the space lets in plenty of light that can be controlled by sheer curtains. For additional light, two slender windows line the textured fireplace surround, which adds dimension to the space. To help make the space warm and inviting, designers had wood paneled ceilings installed and brought in a beautiful baby grand piano and modern, wood chairs to complement the rich, wood floors that run throughout the house.
