Hoping to please a young single bachelor with a keen eye for modern and contemporary design, Justine Sterling set out to modernize his open plan living space and also provide her client with a functional design. The narrow living room space was one of the biggest challenges in the space planning. Here, Sterling designed a small work space and sitting area with built-in bookshelves around the fireplace to neatly display books and personal treasures.
Matt and Jodi sought the help of a designer friend to give purpose to the open space just off their apartment's entry. In order to use this as a private office space, the area needed to be separated somehow from the dining and living room areas.
This spacious kitchen includes a small office space that can easily be concealed by a set of sleek sliding doors. A rust orange accent wall adds a pop of color to the otherwise neutral and brown kitchen.
Utilize a small area in the bedroom or hallway as a workspace when a dedicated home office room isn't available. A simple white desk doesn't overwhelm a small space, and a floating shelf provides extra storage when floor space is scarce.
A custom chrome chandelier compliments the custom steel, fiberoptic, acrylic, and onyx desk. A mix of classic and contemporary pieces paired with bright colors and unexpected accessories buts a twist on this traditional home office style.
