Rustic Chic Living Room Renovation
As seen on HGTV's Renovation Raiders, this new space features retro-fitted window trim and all-new window treatments. The fireplace is restored so that it is once again wood-burning and is upgraded with a free-hanging mantel and cleaner look.
Chip and Joanna, from HGTV's Fixer Upper, have completed renovated this living room, which was once a closed in, disconnected space. Chip moved the wall that contained the fireplace to open up the space and had a new mantle constructed on the outside wall. Joanna brought in rustic touches to create a comfortable, yet sophisticated space for the family to enjoy. The entire space is lit and tied together by a new chandelier that adds an elegant touch to this rustic chic living space.
A room in the 2013 Atlanta Decorators Show House, a showcase of more than 30 spaces transformed by designers from around the Southeast. This rustic living room has plenty of seating with the large sectional and gives off a rustic vibe with the decor.
Chic Contemporary Living Room Features Rustic Coffee Table
A rustic coffee table as a centerpiece within a sitting area adds handsome variations in tone and texture through a weathered and striking look. A timeless style, the table brings a sense of history while retaining the contemporary feel embodied in the ikat area rug and throw pillows. A transitional sofa and love seat and contemporary leather armchairs complete the ensemble.

In this renovation by Kitchen Cousins John Colaneri and Anthony Carrino, walls were removed to open the kitchen onto adjacent spaces including this living room which was also updated as part of remodel.
When redoing a fireplace, you can get a sophisticated look at a lower cost. For the hearth, Terracotta Design Build used 12-by-12 porcelain tile in a dark color that looks like slate, but was more affordable. They cut the tile into little 3- by-12s and installed it in a herringbone pattern. "That’s a great way to get what really is a high-end look and finsh for hardly any cost," says architect and interior designer Ili Hidalgo-Nilsson.
This coastal chic living room features large framed art in a blue pattern that flows seamlessly to the wicker cushioned sofa with navy throw pillows and complimentary wicker coffee table. Two sturdy and matching blue side tables flank the couch with floor lamps on a neutral rug.
Young newlyweds were looking to transform their home into a chic, sophisticated space for both relaxation and entertaining friends and family.
The renovations were all about creating spaces for entertaining. The compartmentalized main living spaces were opened up with the help of a structural engineer. A bearing wall and two outdated columns were replaced by steel beams that fit into the ceiling system above, and the structural work continued all the way down to the footers in the basement. Designer Heather Garrett and her team worked decorative moulding around the new ceiling beams to make it appear as if they were always part of the home.
This newly renovated living room use to have an old non-functioning fireplace that has been replace with a large wall organizer and an electric fire screen. Updated wall colors, a modern couch with ottoman, and new lighting create a new living space. The wall dividing the living room and the hallway has been partially opened, as well as the archway between the living and dining rooms, creating a more open flow to the first floor.
