Farmhouse-style Porch with White Doors and Galvanized Container Plant
The farmhouse-style look continues to the porch of this California home. Beth Dana Design decorated the doorway with a galvanized container, turquoise chair and vintage-looking fixtures. The renovated exterior of the early 1900s home has board and batten siding and bright white wide trim.
This picturesque porch has all the tropical appeal of the West Indies with a dark wood-paneled ceiling brightened by white beams and a huge leafy plant. Stripes on the floor help visually widen the space.
One of the projects in the refurbishing of this farmhouse in Garrison, New York was to rebuild the front porch, which had been removed. To honor the home's history, designers used a standing seam metal roof supported by chamfered posts. The decking is painted heart pine.
"Our home is a hundred-year-old farmhouse that sits on about 40 acres," says Joanna Gaines, co-host with her husband Chip of HGTV's Fixer Upper. The home features casual farmhouse style with lots of repurposed vintage pieces.
