Playful and Practical
Chalkboard paint was used by the entrance to the pantry, to create a handy message center with storage cabinet above tucked away from the rest of the kitchen. Open slots by the upper cabinet allow storage for cookbooks and other kitchen essentials.
A contemporary arc floor lamp illuminates this transitional sitting area. A cozy blue armchair with playful pillows serves as the focal point of the space, while white built-in shelving provides practical storage.
This neutral kid's room proves that a space doesn't have to be colorful to be fun and playful. Built-in cabinets flank both sides of the bed, creating functional and stylish bedside tables. An upholstered headboard with two rows of nailhead trim is custom-built to fit the space, and reading lights above are a practical addition. Dinosaur-printed bedding and a pair of acid green pillows bring punch and kid-friendly flair.
The Asbury Hotel on the New Jersey Shore was once the local Salvation Army. Today, it’s a hip beach retreat that has preserved functional elements of its past. The lobby, which doubles as a greenhouse, has conserved the original brick and pillars while adding colorful new furnishings including the inviting pit sofa with a blue velvet base and playful hand-sewn cushions, custom designed by Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture. The practical grey oak coffee table is from Restoration Hardware.
