Open Plan Kitchen with Updated Tile and Flooring
As seen on HGTV's Love It Or List It, Too, Designer Jillian Harris modernized this west coast home by removing a pillar that sat in the middle of the entrance. She painted the walls with Behr Cotton Knit and installed engineered hickory hardwood flooring with Tremblant stain. The kitchen entrance was removed and the pantry and office desk area were closed in to create the laundry room. The Ceasarstone kitchen countertops, London Grey and Stone Grey, were extended along the back wall. Jillian removed another pillar in the centre of the kitchen and modernized the existing island with clean straight lines. Jillian completes the kitchen with Antique Imperial Mist subway tile for the backsplash.
As seen on HGTV's House Hunters Renovation, with the help of interior designer Jorge Da Rosa, the home owner's created an open, functional kitchen-to-living-room space perfect for entertaining. Warm-toned brown walls and medium-dark hardwood floors contrast with the crisp white ceiling and grey and white kitchen cabinets. Occasional splashes of color, like the green tiled backsplash and the yellow inside the cabinets add contrast and visual interest.
A large center island creates an instant gathering spot for the whole family. The open floor plan kitchen used two colors to divide the space visually. All-white cabinets, countertops and a subway tile backsplash are used in the prep and dish-washing area, while dark gray cabinets, countertops and a granite backsplash make up the cooking area.
This family-friendly kitchen opens up to the casual dining room. Slate tile flooring pairs perfectly with the dining room's hardwood floors, while a large kitchen island provides extra counter space and storage. Earth tones are used throughout the space to create a warm, welcoming space.
This family of five needed a kitchen that fit their active lifestyle. The main goal of the kitchen remodel was to create an open plan that flows into the dining room and home office. Slate tile flooring and shared cabinetry connects the kitchen and home office, which also functions as the kids' homework center.
This charming open floor plan kitchen features industrial-style pendant lights, white cabinetry, and a kitchen island with an attached table. Green rattan chairs surround a separate dining table with a fresh bowl of lemons over a lemon-print table runner.
This mid-century modern home in Denver, Colo., features an open floor plan that combines the living space, dining room and kitchen. Sleek white cabinets with streamlined cabinet pulls set the scene for the contemporary kitchen, which leads into a chic dining room with modern chandelier.
The open floor plan creates a bright and airy atmosphere for this Dallas, Tex., home. Sleek neutral cabinetry is paired with creamy white countertops and professional-quality appliances in the streamlined kitchen, while metallic-upholstered barstools add a touch of glam.
The large, open floor plan kitchen connects to the comfortable living room and inviting dining room. A large center island houses a farmhouse sink, provides extra storage and prep space, as well as a casual dining spot. Exposed wood beams add a rustic quality to the entire space.
The open floor plan creates a seamless transition between the family's most-used living spaces. Clean lines and state-of-the-art equipment make the kitchen the refined core of entertaining, while the dining room is defined by a custom-designed drop ceiling and an EcoSmart fireplace. Beyond the dining room is the living room, wet bar and frameless glass wine room, all which combine to create one sophisticated space perfect for entertaining.
This transitional chef's kitchen is the heart of this sprawling estate and opens up to an oversized family with bi-folding doors that lead to expansive views of the resort-like backyard. Marble countertops top the soft brown islands and Shaker-style cabinets to create a cohesive design.
Espresso-stained oak floors and dark kitchen cabinets create a striking contrast against the soft white island. The hub of the kitchen, the island provides a casual dining spot, two separate ranges for cooking, tons of counter space for prep and even storage for the homeowners' large collection of cookbooks.
When Kitchen Cousins Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri renovated this kitchen, they decided to remove a wall between the living room and dining room. Now that the space is opened up, the large wall graphic in the dining area adds a striking visual that extends throughout the space.
