John and Anthony, hosts of HGTV's Kitchen Cousins, have opened up the Sosa's cramped kitchen and dining room space. The wall between the kitchen and dining room has been mostly removed, but the load bearing portion remains. The fireplace has been removed to modernize the space, and the stone backsplash in the kitchen ties perfectly into the stone table top on the dining room table. That light gray color is complimented nicely by warm, rich wood throughout the kitchen and dining room.
As seen on HGTV's Love It Or List It Too, Designer Jillian Harris completely transformed what was a dark kitchen into an open concept kitchen and dining room. Jillian removed the entire wall between the old kitchen and dining room, creating space for an island with a live edge 100 year old fir countertop. Jillian painted the dining room Siberian Snowflake and installed American Walnut Authentic engineered wood flooring.
This open dining room and kitchen boasts some mid-century flare with the black barstools, wooden cabinets and upholstered dining chairs. Contemporary details, like the dining table and light fixtures, bring it into the 21st century.
As seen on HGV's Love It or List It, this renovated kitchen is missing the wall that used to separate it from the dining room. Now, with the wall gone, the kitchen feels much more spacious, and there is a greater flow to the house.
This contemporary kitchen has it all: a white subway tile backsplash, a farmhouse sink, marble countertops and easy access to the adjacent dining area. Three delicate glass pendant lights illuminate both spaces and ensure they feel bright and airy.
Open Concept Kitchen and Dining Rooms With Chalkboard
An open floor plan keeps the different living areas of this home—kitchen, dining and living rooms—from feeling small and cramped. In the kitchen, a chalkboard wall makes a playful spot for kid's art and family messages.
Ultra Modern, Open Concept Kitchen and Dining Room
To create this ultra modern home, designers had to remove several walls that once made the footprint of the home feel boxy and closed-in. The result is a beautiful, light and bright space that is clean, stylish, functional and modern.
Seating Options in Open Concept Kitchen and Dining Room
The open concept design between the kitchen and dining room allows the homeowners to have two separate spaces that could connect if they desired. A kitchen island with seating for four is located in close proximity to the large dining room table, so both spaces or either could be used for entertaining.
In order to add a stove, cabinets and appliances in the kitchen, the french doors had to be removed and a wall need to be added. Because valuable light was being taken away, the Kitchen Cousins added two skylights into the ceiling. After tearing the dining room wall down and turning the dining room into the kitchen, there is a whole new flow and life to the atmosphere and energy of the kitchen and dining room area. What once was a cold empty ding room is now a large kitchen that opens to a large dining room.
White cabinetry, warm wood tones and industrial touches are featured in this design first seen on HGTV's Cousins Undercover. The beautiful blend of reclaimed wood and colorful accents creates a cohesive look throughout the open-concept floor plan.
