Contemporary Gray Master Bedroom with a Red Persian Rug
The new first-floor master suite includes a spacious bedroom with wall paint in a soothing cool-tone gray offset by a classic Persian rug in bold red and a king-sized bed with substantive wooden bedframe and button-tufted headboard, both in charcoal gray.
Designers wanted to create a serene family room, so they started with a neutral color on the walls to reflect the natural light that streams in through the windows. Then, they added a warm blue to the space for a splash of color. Finally, wood details were brought in to give the space texture and finish the design.
Contemporary, Open Plan Living Space in California
Sophisticated city living meets coastal casualness in this 12,710-square-foot new build on the bay in Newport Beach, California. Intentional and innovative space planning was key to filling the vast, open floor plan with a natural flow of intimate gathering areas to enhance the family feel within a grand residence. The design features a mix of styles that work together to bring character and charm to the contemporary home.
An oversized wing chair, covered in lush buttercream velvet upholstery, is the perfect spot to sink, snuggle and enjoy views of the sun as it sinks below the mountains. Two yellow-and-blue striped upholstered arm chairs flank the fireplace completing the sitting area in the HGTV Dream Home 2014.
