Changing out light fixtures in small spaces can make an enormous difference in how they look, feel and function. The key to a swift, successful lighting swap is choosing fixtures which will fit with existing junction boxes. For situations in which junction boxes require relocation, it's best to hire an electrician; however, keep in mind this will create somewhat of a mess due to patching holes with drywall mud and creating dust from sanding. This three-bulb nickel and acrylic fixture features a linen drum shade which diffuses the light, allowing the wall color to read more clearly.
The newly renovated home ultimately met all the criteria of homeowners Bill and Jody, including a wonderful and welcoming front porch that's large enough to accommodate a dining table and swinging porch bed.
Tasked with fitting a washer and two dryers into this slim laundry room, designer RaeLynn Callaway of Classically Yours Interiors had limited space to add storage. She configured the cabinets to make the most of every inch, including open niches for bins and baskets. She also paid special attention to aesthetics, with lively green paint and corner cabinets that house art and accents. "I have realized that if you have a 'happy' laundry room you have a happy laundry person," Callaway says. Fun colors, cabinet hardware, flooring patterns and decor can really make a difference."
Natural elements are a big feature of the Lindsey home, from wood cabinets and shelves in this stunning bathroom, to spectacular views of the woods beyond. Small round his-and-her mirrors are a clever way to get around the windows in place of mirrors dilemma here. The master bathroom also features a sauna, whose door can be seen on the left.
