Niche Offers Perfect Spot for Writing Desk and Shelving
A small niche in the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2015 family room perfectly fits a writing desk and built-in shelving. The honeyed tone of the writing desk offer warm contrast to the cool, chocolate-colored grasscloth walls.
The owners of this Arizona property wanted an elegant and modern outdoor space that related architecturally to their house and would be used for entertaining in a gallery-like setting. The two large sculptures were pieces the owners had in storage, and they were incorporated into the award-winning design by landscape architect Steve Martino.
Calming Gray-Green Color Scheme in Country Bedroom With Wood Bed Frame, Patterned Curtains and Smooth Flooring
Gray-greens are used in spa-like settings and tranquil spaces aimed to keep people relaxed. The wood bed frame and wood table lamp shine as elements of warmth against the calming, cool color scheme. The country style of this bedroom gives it the perfect balance of feeling homey and stylish.
Natural light is the key to ensuring the proper color values of each tone; however, when a white-on-white tablescape is lit artificially or with candlelight, each shade will be strongly influenced by bulbs or flames, causing the colors to read more warmly with yellow undertones.
Nautical Nursery With Yellow Beadboard and Navy Crib
This gender neutral nursery branches out with a nautical theme that spans the entire room. Light blue walls and buttercream beadboard create the perfect backdrop for a distressed navy crib and a built-in bookshelf.
Contemporary Boy's Nursery With Built-In Changing Station
Sleek white built-ins add plenty of storage to this boy's nursery. Drawers and cabinets add hidden organization, while open shelves are the perfect spot to display favorite toys and stuffed animals. Inset in the cabinets is a changing station, complete with robot-themed wallpaper and bright red sconces.
Cozy Contemporary Desk Nook With Wall-to-Wall Shelves
Make the most of an awkward space by giving it function. As seen on HGTV's Design On a Dime, the slanted ceilings in this attic bedroom created a hideaway nook with no real purpose. By adding wall-to-wall shelves and a desk, the area was immediately turned into a private office. This new space adds value to the home and is a feature potential buyers are sure to remember.
Modern White and Blue Kids' Room With Custom Bunk Beds
This blue and white kids' bedroom features white built-in bunk beds with underbed drawers and custom shelving for plenty of storage. The unusual arrangement of bookcase against beds allows for great of space to house books, toys and other kid paraphernalia.
Not everyone has the luxury of a spectacular view, but there are other ways to make an ordinary deck look fantastic — like dressing up the space with a few fun stencils. The design on this deck's surface adds interest and movement.
Designed by Jamie Durie, this deck is made up of undulating wooden planks, which create opportunities for ergonomic seating. The floating timber islands form stepping stones to get from one side to the other.
To match the coastal feel of the rest of the home, a light blue double vanity is installed. The subway tile shower is designed curbless for a streamlined look, and soft gray and white tiles ground the master bathroom.
