Mixing Vintage and Modern Furniture Gives Writing Room a Warm and Inviting Feel
In this writing room, designers blended vintage items, such as the bookcase and end tables, with newer, more modern furniture to give the space a comfortable, inviting feeling perfect for letting inspiration flow. On the wall, several concert posters and an autographed guitar hang prominently-a nod to the homeowner's part in a country music duo.
Moroccan tile transforms an everyday staircase into a beautiful, bohemian display. At the top of the stairs, a woven wall hanging accentuates the well-traveled look and adds a dose of texture to the room.
The master bathroom is big on personality, if not on space. The concrete tile floor is meant to evoke the look of a folk art quilt. The vanity and mirror are pretty as a picture in robin's egg blue. And shiplap walls match the paneling used throughout the house.
If you have solid but unremarkable builder-grade cabinets, the simplest route to a high-end look is adding some height with crown molding. Interior designer Sarah Macklem of The Yellow Cape Cod tackled this project in her own kitchen with striking results.
