Rustic Neutral Kitchen with Custom Wood and Marble Island
An innovative designer, Jasmine stepped outside the box and chose a beautiful dolomite stone countertop for her kitchen island. Since the stone is porous, she sealed it with a UV-cured acrylic for durability. She also extended the island by a couple of feet, adding a live edge piece of wood that waterfalls over one end. To save money, she kept the original kitchen countertops and cooktop, and repurposed, then painted the original cabinetry.
For a truly custom look, Jasmine replaced some of the upper cabinets with open shelving, installed a trendy square-tile backsplash and wrapped the range hood in wood, painting it to match the rest of the space.
Simple white cabinets surround this eat-in kitchen. A brown subway tile backsplash stands out against the bright white cabinets, and neutral stone countertops provide ample workspace. A trio of seagrass chairs creates a casual dining area at the counter space. A rustic wood island provides drawer storage and adds a touch of rustic charm to this elegant kitchen.
The neutral palette gives a peaceful mood to this charmingly rustic kitchen that features exposed brick walls, concrete floors and a birch beam ceiling. Kitchen cabinets from the 1950s were salvaged and topped with new butcher block countertops.
Dine in the heart of the kitchen. Use your kitchen island for more intimate dining experiences. When possible, use the kitchen island for seating four-plus people; this allows for the best flexibility for the dining space.
Colorful and woven accessories bring a global feel to the kitchen, while the patina on the island adds a rustic vibe. The blue mosaic tile backsplash coordinates with the patina on the island surface while adding a refreshing look.
