The large rustic dining table comfortably seats eight with a mix of chairs and a bench in a perfect example of the home's friendly, unfussy style. Overhead, painting the sloped ceiling white helps it fade into the background and makes the room feel even more spacious.

By far the most significant modification in this renovation was the opening up of two walls that had separated the dining room from an adjacent breakfast room and the kitchen. The new design made way for an enlarged kitchen, and the combined spaces now feels much more open and welcoming with an improved flow and sight-line.
In the new dining room, existing windows were replaced with French doors and sidelights to bring lots of natural light into the space. Joanna added a statement chandelier, rustic wood dining table, and glass-front bookcase, also in the natural wood finish.
