HGTV Dream Home 2012 is a modern, rustic ranch home that boasts almost 4,000 square feet of living space. The home's muted gray exterior and subtle native landscaping help it blend seamlessly into the Utah terrain.
From the rear of this modern-rustic ranch, the homeowners have access to all of their home's exterior spaces. From the more intimate, lower outdoor dining area and covered lounge space to the larger, upper level dining area with a grill space, each space is accessible from the home's interior, allowing for a seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining space.
The front entrance of this home elegantly mixes the modern and rustic elements and gives guests a preview of what they will find inside. The clean lines of the steps and columns introduce the modern aspects of the home's design, while the rich, wood door nods to the rustic details in the interior spaces.
Interconnected barn-like structures, designed from stacked stone and rustic lumber, house the main living areas. A covered outdoor living space features comfortable seating areas, an outdoor fireplace and outdoor kitchen that overlook the beautiful Texas ranch.
The owners of this Keck & Keck-designed ranch house wanted to add a second story. To keep its original aesthetic while expanding it, the renovation maintained the beams and passive solar features such as large soffits and window placement as well as the home's strong horizontal lines, volumetric squared masses and stacking square and rectangular forms.
This ranch home's exterior is a study in contrasts, rustic meets contemporary chic. The stone wall out front mimics a tumble-down version you might find in a field. A crisp black-and-white striped awning gives smart welcome above the front door.
A rustic stone and wood home contrasts against the sleek, contemporary pool. Modern white lounge chairs surround the pool, while native trees, grasses and perennials make the pool terrace feel at home in the context of the adjacent meadow.
As seen on HGTV Design Star, Bex Hale’s design in this dining room pays homage to this ranch's rich cultural heritage that spanned from Mexico to West Texas. The arches were created from limestone quarried locally and the floors were fashioned from reclaimed barn wood. The home showcases antiques that Bex hand-selected in South-Central Mexico and Northern Africa.
At the 2012 HGTV Dream Home, the finished landscaping, inspired by indigenous meadow grasses, caps the exterior design of this exquisite modern rustic ranch home. The beautiful 4000-square-foot home, located in Park City, Utah, was designed to resemble a family compound expanded over time.
