Imported Wall Hangings in Family Room
As seen on Love It Or List It, Too, the old piano room was never used so it became the family room with coffered ceilings adjacent to the newly installed fireplace. Jillian brought in a custom made sectional sofa, a wrought iron wall hanging from Egypt and traditional Italian hunting prints to give the family the Tuscan inspired feel they were looking for.
Wrapping seating all the way around this living room—with a break for the beautiful fireplace—instantly makes the space so cozy. It's a nice juxtaposition to the wide, open seascapes framed in by the huge windows.
New Furniture and Wall Hanging in Renovated Living Room
As seen on Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna wanted to create a new space for the family inside the home they already own, so they replaced the family's outdated furniture with some new pieces: two gray couches and two leather recliners. This gives the space plenty of seating for entertaining or just relaxing. To add color to the space, a blue striped rug lies on the floor and blue pillows adorn the couch. Nesting coffee tables and the frame of a boat hung on the wall complete the space.
Rug Doubles as Wall Hanging in Eclectic Living Room
A striped area rug, tapestry print throw pillows and a Navajo rug on the wall bring an eclectic mix of patterns and cultures into this electic living room. A handwoven basket and a contemporary lamp add a collected feel to the room.
Bohemian Style Contemporary Living Room With White Ship Lap Wall, Brown Leather Sectional and Macrame Wall Hang
The DIY coffee table is made from a broken clock face transformed into a live edge table with hair pin legs. A white ship lap accent wall creates a white on white texture display with the unbleached macrame fiber art. A large leather sectional is decorated with a mix of patterned pillows and throw blankets. Wicker baskets provide decorative storage.
A flatscreen TV is framed by custom white shelving in this contemporary neutral living room. A mounted desk and cubed stools provide a space for kids to entertain themselves. Metallic art pieces and a colorful wall hanging provide balance and interest to the unique family room.
This two-story open space includes the living room and kitchen, creating the feeling of a great hall. Heavy, masculine elements, including the stone walls, timber trusses and hanging fixtures, are balanced with ivory painted trim and soft, neutral furnishings.
Beautiful windows or eye-catching views already fill this high-end, modern penthouse living room. Placing furniture items low even leaning pieces against the wall instead of hanging them let the eye drift to the windows and through to those great views.
Here's a trick made popular by New York City designers: if you don't have lots of wall space in your living room
but have a large collection of art, consider hanging pieces directly in front of windows that don't offer great views.
This living room, from HGTV's Property Brothers, is centered around a refaced fireplace and decorated with contemporary blue and gray furniture. Under the blue area rug, the floor is porcelain tile made to look like hardwood floors. A collage of family photos hangs on the back wall. A rustic sliding barn door separates the living room from the office.
Antique Wooden Oars Used as Art in Neutral Living Space
A set of antique wooden oars hangs as artwork on one wall of this living room, representing the family’s love of the outdoors and being on the water. A sectional sofa with a chaise at one end is covered in a durable, family-friendly fabric. Graphic textiles provide visual punch.
Adding a single piece of original artwork is always a great way to start (or complete) a room design, and can take a family room from basic to stunning in the time it takes you to hang a picture. To highlight the unique artwork, keep other wall art to a minimum, and paint the walls white or another neutral hue to provide a backdrop for the art.
Rustic, Open Concept Living Space with Paneled Walls
From the walls to the floor to the beamed ceiling, wood finishes wrap this multipurpose living space, giving it a cocooned and cozy feel. The Jackson Hole, Wyoming, cabin serves as a vacation retreat for the owners and their extended families and friends. In this open-concept room, the kitchen, living room, media room, game room and dining space all combine, allowing the occupants to hang out together while enjoying individual activities.
This fresh family home is a space where everyone wants to hang out. In the living room, a children's play area includes a kid-sized activity table and a whimsical childs' teepee. White walls throughout the house form a neutral backdrop for colorful accessories.
The two-story living room is the perfect place to highlight the homeowner's love of art. Beautiful pieces hang on the bright white walls on both floors, while a modern lounge chair with matching ottoman in caramel tone provides a great spot for enjoying the collection.
