Light-Filled Sitting Area With Tiger-Striped Rug
In one side of this library, a cozy nook houses a large painting of a woman looking over her shoulder. In front of this painting is a gray sofa with coordinating pillows, an oval coffee table, two gold floor lamps and a tiger-striped pillow. Natural light floods the room, providing the perfect spot for a bouquet of fresh flowers.
To create a tailored look in a simple, monochromatic kitchen, designer Teri Thomas chose a valance and Roman shade in the same fabric. She used a custom-printed fabric from Galbraith and Paul for both the shade and its box-pleated topper, says contractor Duane Johns of Advanced Renovations.
Instead of springing for a built-in island, consider a freestanding one made from recycled materials. Case in point: the Industrial Recycled High Bench Table, shown in Shabby Chic White, $1,999, designed by Will Marx for GHIFY. Handmade in Brisbane, Australia, of native Australian timber, the design was inspired by the architecture of Queensland. Says GHIFY, “This island is one of our signature designs, which has been hugely popular as a kitchen island for added counter space, as a high bench dining table for the eat-in kitchen and as a workbench/desk. It is a timeless industrial recycled styled table that can be custom-built to any size, color or finish. Each table comes with a 10-year warranty.”
Breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Washington surround this sleek and modern, window-lined living room. A bright blue velvet sofa combines with white leather Barcelona chairs mimicking the natural color palette of the outdoors while a transparent coffee table relates to the windows.
Fun robot prints hang on baby blue walls adding a whimsical touch to this modern boy's room. Bright white wrap-around cabinets create tons of storage space without taking up too much room. A cherry red lamp pops against the blue walls and helps bring out the colors in the fun, underwater bed linen.
Neutral Transitional Kitchen With Large Wood Island
Modern barstools add a twist to the more traditional style of this bright white kitchen, blending well with the walnut island with soapstone countertops. An abundance of natural light highlights the white perimeter cabinets and the stainless steel appliances.
The clean, simple lines of the architecture and furniture, including a stately wood front door and rectangular console table, keep this foyer stylish and elegant. Soft yellow walls brighten the transitional space.
Contemporary Red Home Office With British Flag Chair
British charm infuses this red contemporary home office thanks to British flags adorning the comfy wingback used as a desk chair. Black-and-white Nate Berkus-designed chevron vases from Target tie in with the black-and-white-striped curtains.
Cool, Contemporary Kitchen Bar With Natural Wood Details, White Metal Barstools and Pendant Lighting
A ceiling beam matches the natural wood detailing on the kitchen bar base adding gorgeous texture to the smooth, white elements of this kitchen design. White metal barstools and a white countertop pop against the dark wood. Pendant lights hang over the bar decorating the air space leading to a stylish, bright kitchen.
Simplicity is key throughout this neutral dining room space, featuring a traditional dining table and elegant chandelier. A pop of color comes from an artistic wall hanging that sits between two windows with shimmering curtains.
Skip the grown-up table and host your chid's birthday party at the coffee table. Delineate the space with colorful balloons tied to the table legs, then add high-energy hues to the table with bowls, plates and cups. Keep baskets nearby with clean-up necessities in the event of any spills or smudges.
Excellent Flip: Stylish Kitchen with High End Appliances
The perfectly inverted color scheme on the kitchen island versus the outerlying cabinets is genius. High end stainless steele appliances are must for any flipped home, as seen on Mark & Derek's Excellent Flip.
Dining Nook and Living Space: Neoclassical Luxury in Seattle
This informal living area features a cozy alcove with a small dining table and four chairs, forming a casual dining nook. Windows and French doors fill the space with natural light to create a bright, breezy atmosphere.
This closet is actually located in the open corner of a studio apartment, where fashion expert Lindsay Albanese shoots her YouTube videos. Designer Lucinda Pace of Laurel & Wolf found that Lindsay was using her clothes closet for storing boxes, paper towels, and other miscellaneous items, while her clothes hung on collapsible rolling racks. The designer created this “Style Studio” for Lindsay along one wall to act as clothing storage, a video set and an apartment design element all in one. The chaise, formerly a catchall for un-hung clothes, was reupholstered in ivory microsuede, and now serves as the perfect place for Lindsay to interview guests.
