Large Island Added to Renovated Nashville Kitchen
This young Nashville family wanted a kitchen that they could live and work in, so designers incorporated a huge kitchen island to suit the family's needs. The countertop is made from durable and easily cleaned honed black pearl granite. Designers customized the thickness of this countertop to be 2.5", adding even more substance and weight to the island. Designers also added durable teal vinyl counter stools to give the neutral kitchen a pop of color.
This kitchen has been reconfigured to take advantage of the new open concept floor plan. A large kitchen island provides more counter space, as well as doubles as a kitchen table with stools running underneath. The sliding door was reduced to a sink under the window, allowing the galley kitchen to run along the whole wall. Stainless steel appliances, pendant and recessed lighting, and a neutral color scheme create a clean modern look to the kitchen. New flooring was added throughout the whole first floor.
Large Contemporary Kitchen Island Adds Seating and Storage
In this contemporary kitchen, two chandeliers balance the length of the large island and raise the eye upward. The marbled backsplash complements the tan wall and brown island cabinets. Large islands are the ideal space to add much-needed storage as well as a few luxuries. Designer Jennifer Gilmer of Jennifer Gilmer Kitchens & Bath Ltd., included an under-counter beverage refrigerator, deep and shallow drawers, and even an extra prep sink to create a functional and stylish island.
Large Island Adds Counter Space and Seating to Open Concept Kitchen
Designers wanted to ensure that the homeowners did not lose counter space when they opened up the space, so they added a large island in the middle of the room. They painted it gray to add contrast and color to the kitchen and added blue barstools to give the family a casual dining option.
Dual Islands Add Storage and Seating in Renovated Kitchen
As seen on HGTV's Fixer Upper, this newly renovated kitchen has dual islands that add extra seating and storage in the kitchen area. The gray cabinets in the islands match the rest of the lower kitchen cabinets, as does the custom tile countertop. The back of the cabinets, however, are cased in wood planks, helping to bring Joanna's rustic design to life.
The island in this space gives the kitchen tons of additional functionality. Since the island is so large, it gives the homeowners plenty of extra counter space for meal prep and serving, while the prep sink makes clean up a breeze. There are also deep cabinets on two sides of the island that add storage, while a breakfast bar with seating for four gives the family additional dining options.
As seen on HGTV's Fixer Upper, to maximize the space in this kitchen, Joanna added a functional kitchen island to increase seating options and give the family more prep space for meals. Gray cabinets match the gray trim and molding from the rest of the open concept first floor, and rustic stools provide complementary style. A subway tile backsplash polishes off the space, finishing out the design.
A large, stylish kitchen is the perfect relaxing space for the family to cook together, enjoy their meals and entertain their friends. White cabinets around the main section of the kitchen keep the space light and bright, while the blue, arabesque tile adds a splash of muted color. To add contrast and counter space, designers installed a kitchen island whose color scheme is the opposite of the rest of the kitchen-dark cabinets and white countertops-to add interest and create a transition between the kitchen and dining areas.
Updated Fixtures and Details Add Personality to Renovated Kitchen
The designers at Brio Interior Designs transformed a small, cluttered kitchen into a Midcentury masterpiece. Walls were demolished to create an open concept concept design throughout the house. Large bottom cabinets replaced the metal shelving the couple was using for storage, and their outdated appliances were replaced with state of the art stainless steel ones. Designers then added details that show off the couple's personality, such as the red patterned rug that adds a bit of flair, while modern light fixtures help the large windows over the countertop to provide light to the kitchen.
Large Kitchen Island in Contemporary, White Kitchen
The large, open-concept kitchen has sleek, flat-fronted cabinetry with streamlined pulls. A light blue accent wall adds a splash of color to the space, and a kitchen island provides extra counter space and dining spots.
After walls were removed, this Fixer Upper kitchen has much more room. To maximize the functionality of this space, Chip and Joanna added a large kitchen island that added more counter and prep space, as well as gave the family a place to sit down for a casual meal. Joanna continued her rustic industrial style in the kitchen, painting the cabinets to match the trim and molding throughout the first floor. She also added industrial pendant lights, an industrial style sink and rustic industrial barstools to complete the look.
The newly renovated kitchen makes use of a center island topped with beautiful marble, creating a large workspace for the family. Creamy cabinets paired with wood countertops and a farmhouse sink bring a touch of country to the space. The coffered ceiling hides structural members needed to support the clay block walls above.
Black countertops combine with wood cabinets to create this masculine, contemporary kitchen. An extra long island adds tons of counter space and features a built in stove and sink. A state of the art, stainless stell range hood adds an industrial touch.
This contemporary kitchen design features an open design with a kitchen island, dark cabinets, stainless steel appliances and white countertops. A tiled backsplash adds some small color to the white and brown kitchen.
A long wall, that had separated the kitchen from the living space, was removed as well, creating the opportunity to add a large island that helps define the space. Corbels on either side of the columns adds an architectural touch that mimics that on the outdoor columns, and helps further delineate the space.
