Transitional Kitchen Bar is Stylish, Functional
Soft black cabinets contrast against gray countertops in this sophisticated kitchen bar area. Mirrored tiles add a glamorous touch as the backsplash, while a mini refrigerator and smart shelving provide storage for wine bottles and essential glassware.
Part of the family room, this bar had to be both fully functional but also still tie in aesthetically with the rest of the space. Recyled glass/concrete countertops and an antique glass backsplash adds loads of visual interest as well as durability. The bar top matches the rooms fireplace ledge, connecting the spaces beautifully. Lucite barstool backs keep it light and allows the eye to move easily throughout the space.
One of the things these homeowners wanted for the design of their new home was a fun, functional place for their family to spend time bonding-particularly over food. So, in the kitchen, designers kept the concept simple, open and functional. Elegant materials and colors keep the space stylish, but minimal decoration helps maximize the useful space and minimize clutter. Designers made sure that the homeowners had tons of counter space for easy prep and serving, as well as plenty of cabinets for storage and a large sink, making for easy cleanup.
To maximize this kitchen's functionality, designers installed wall ovens to maximize the wall space. Then, they added a large range with a covered range hood to stylishly accommodate the amount of cooking done by the homeowners. These features, along with the space's neutral color palette and abundance of counter space, make this kitchen an elegant, functional space perfect for two chefs.
To keep up with this growing family's active lifestyle, their kitchen needed to be functional, but without sacrificing style, so designers created a neutral, contemporary kitchen that has all the bells and whistles, as well as a stylish backsplash, seating and lights. Finally, a large island adds casual seating and counter space to this elegant, useful kitchen.

Transitional Laundry Closet is Functional, Stylish
Within the master bedroom was a small entry hallway and extra closet, creating a perfect spot to carve out a small laundry room. Full-sized stacked washer and dryer sit next to adjustable shelves for holding supplies. New louvered doors offer ventilation and flow with the home’s plantation shutters throughout.
The owners of this elegant Spanish Colonial needed a kitchen that could meet the needs of their family's busy lifestyle, designers created a functional, stylish kitchen space that could do just that. A wide, galley style kitchen gives the homeowners plenty of counter space and storage space, while a connected dining space gives the family a place to enjoy their meals together. To finish off the space with an elegant look, the cabinets have an antique finish and the refrigerator has been covered in matching wood panels to give the appliance a more upscale look.

This sleek, black kitchen is a perfectly elegant, stylish and functional Midcentury Modern space. The space has plenty of functional elements, for example the kitchen island and open shelving, whose clean lines contribute to the Midcentury Modern design of the space, while elements such as the gold-lined pendant lights help to add glamour and pizzaz.
The homeowners wanted an all white kitchen that is stylish and functional for their family. To achieve this goal, designers added a bit of texture with custom cabinetry, and a splash of glimmer with a metallic and white, penny round tile backsplash. For function, plenty of storage was added with ceiling height cabinets, dual kitchen islands and plenty of counter space. These elements blend together to give the homeowners the kitchen of their dreams.
Contemporary Chef's Kitchen is Stylish, Functional
A trio of stainless steel refrigerators provide plenty of storage in this contemporary chef's kitchen. Sleek lower cabinetry allows for large windows that provide natural light and open up for air circulation.
The large center island features cubbies for open storage, cabinetry for hidden storage and turned legs that give it the look of a piece of furniture. The black contrasts against the white cabinets throughout the rest of the kitchen, but the same neutral countertops are used to create a cohesive look.
Cooking is one of the homeowners' favorite shared hobbies, so when they decided to renovate, the kitchen became a priority. Walls were torn down to open up the space to the dining room and living room. Soapstone and marble grace the countertops, two-toned custom cabinetry is installed and Urban Electric pendant lights hang over the expansive island, lending both illumination and style to space.
As part of the Parker home transformation in Atlanta, GA, licensed contractor Chip Wade took out a number of walls in the kitchen and living room to make an open air living area. The formal dining area is now adjacent to the great room and part of the open flow of the space. The transformation included a large kitchen island with ample storage and cooking area along with a work station that mechanically lifts for the kids to do their homework. The living area also includes a multi-use ottoman for everyone in the family-including the dog. This creates a central area for the kids to work and spend time with their parents, as seen on DIY Network's Elbow Room.
