Luxury Living Room with Retro Flair
A living space by B.A. Torrey for the Kips Bay Decorator Show House 2018 is sultry yet sophisticated with rich charcoal walls, a chunky stone fireplace and metallic detailing. The room is full of contrasting texture, from plush velvet upholstery to brass furniture to a gold-foiled ceiling and gold light fixtures, keeping it playful and exciting.
Determined to give his 17th floor high-rise Atlanta condo a polished, masculine look, sales executive Chris Staub chose a color scheme of dark brown, red, white and silver to put a more sophisticated spin on bachelor pad style. The high-end space was created on a deceptively low budget that was maximized by mixing high and low price-point purchases with a combination of flea market finds and custom-made elements.
This home captures a retro feel with all neutral furniture, an interior stone wall and a lot of wood accents. To make the space more modern steel accents have been brought in as well as clean, hard lines on the furnishings and fixtures to promote a minimalist look.
Enjoy the view from every comfortable seat in this luxurious, modern living space. The lengthy room is illuminated with soft recessed lighting from the vaulted ceilings, and divided by a sleek, white gas fireplace with floating double-sided flatscreen TVs.
Soft blues and pale pinks create a calming coastal vibe in this spacious, transitional living room. Two built-in shelves flank the marble surround fireplace with a custom built-in mirror above the mantel. A lengthy, blue console table provides lots of storage with two matching ottomans beside.
This island styled home brings the outdoors in. The windows and glass doors are Low-e, an energy efficient because it reflects long-wave infrared energy, limiting solar heat that enters the home. This living space is mostly a neutral color palette, but has dashes of orange and green that further brightens up the space.
Old meets new in this living room with traditional architectural details and crisp, contemporary furniture and accessories. High-gloss ebonized hardwood floors create a stunning backdrop for acrylic chairs and contemporary art. Pewter-colored walls with a soft sheen fit the historic character of the house but also add contemporary drama.
This country-style living room infuses Mexican decor for a cozy, Southwest feel. Pottery is displayed in a wall-length glass case, and pillows with Southwestern designs and animal prints line the furniture.
