High-grade nylons combine our favorite factors: durability + stain-resistance + oh-so-cushy. Kelly Sutherland of Connie Vernich Interior Designs says, "Go with a rug that is soft, plush and comfortable on your feet, but that also has stain-resistant qualities. I love a high-grade nylon, for example. For this particular rug, a patterned carpet with great scale was selected. The rug material is very soft underfoot and easy to maintain as it is constructed from a high-grade nylon. The edges were serged in a matching thread to the carpet to provide a high-end traditional rug finish. Don't forget the final touch – a quality rug cushion ensures extra comfort while keeping the rug in good shape for as long as possible."

After: Tiffany Blue Teen Bedroom with Daybed and Piano
A bold wall color, reminiscent of Tiffany blue, is one of the most inexpensive ways to start off a bedroom makeover, says Atlanta designer Jennifer Foster. The room now has a sophisticated playful style, with a daybed from a home decor store that makes room for a baby grand piano passed down from a grandmother. The lamps also are off the shelf from a discount home goods store.
Black and White Traditional Bathroom with Teal Shower for a Pop of Color
The black and white bathroom in this Tudor home highlights the traditional style of the home's interior spaces. The black and white penny-round tile, wainscoting and white walls reflect that style; however, the teal tub in this sophisticated bathroom helps to liven the space, adding a pop of color and making the space more modern.
This home features an indoor sports area complete with paneled ceilings and recessed lights, a full court in red tiles with a basketball hoop, target practice for hockey and metal and wooden stairs leading to an above landing with storage below.
Beyond offering a place to mix drinks, a wet bar can play an important design role in a home with an open layout, linking the kitchen workspace with the entertaining areas of the house. Here, designer Amy Darooge used rustic materials to create a coherent style throughout. She chose distressed wood cabinetry, a copper sink and faucet, and “the material on the counter is walnut with a live ledge,” she says.
A wallpaper accent wall brings elegance into this bedroom. Designers Cate Dunning and Lathem Gordon of GordonDunning suggest layering a duvet and coverlet for a more luxurious look, and having one “boom-pow” statement pillow can make a big style difference, too.
