Contemporary Outdoor Space Perfect for Entertaining
The mirror surface of the pool reflects the ambiance of an evening under the open ramada. The sleek fire pit is surrounded by modern armchairs, while a geometric light fixture hangs over the natural wood dining table and chairs.
Wrapping the room in a stunning blue plaid changes the personality of the room. It becomes more about creating a mood with continuous pattern and dark color. It’s especially important in rooms like this to stick with a simple palette.
After removing existing cabinetry and fixtures, the room was tiled to the ceiling to play up the natural light and pretty view. By installing a wall-mounted vanity and toilet, they appear to “float” above the floor which adds a more spacious feel. The towel warmers in this cold climate were a no-brainer.
Wall-to-wall white paint, tongue-and-groove paneling and moody blue cabinetry gave the space new life. Removing the upper cabinets added to the kitchen’s spacious feeling and allowed subway tiles in a unique pattern to really shine.
Brian made it feel part of the living space by extending the wallpaper into the nook, then arranging a low-slung banquette and small ottomans around a generous table. He kept the corner from feeling too cluttered by opting for a transparent table base to keep the footprint light. It’s the perfect spot for extra dinner guests, catching up on emails or game nights with friends from the neighborhood.
The custom glass and metal cocktail table is a stunning centerpiece of the upper living room. The "fused" glass pieces are cast in 1" thick slabs and back lit with LED light, hardwired into the floor. The adjoining seating and lounge area make this space perfect for entertaining.
By broadening the underside, the exposed beams reach from inside the studio out into a six-foot overhang toward the landscape and main house creating a haven for the family to gather and relax. The wedge shape for the studio is based on a golden rectangle that was squeezed by sight constraints.
Decorated Outdoor Space with Cedar Table and Turquoise Lanterns
Take advantage of a privacy screen or wall separating your patio from neighbors. Hang lanterns, which can cast a glow at night without taking up floor or table space on a patio. Thrift shop for used wire lanterns or globes, spray paint then any shot of color you desire and add candles. A hanging glass lantern project is one that even beginner DIYers can handle.
This contemporary kitchen features a large center island with bar seating and an attached breakfast table, making this space truly the heart of the home. The kitchen opens up to the surrounding living areas for an easy flow throughout the home.
As seen on HGTV's hit show Buying and Selling, Jonathan and Scott wanted to get rid of the old mismatched sofa and make room for a formal dining area in the Horsman home. The reflective chandelier creates more brightness in the room and the pop of color in the painting draws in your eye.
There's much more to this master bedroom than the sleeping quarters. Low-slung sofas and a graphic area rug create a comfy seating area at the foot of the bed. Floating nightstands and low-hung pendant lights add an element of surprise beside the bed.
