Aged Brick Wall, Thick Curtains Lend to Urban Feel in Townhome
Thinset mortar, paint and stain were used to artificially age the brick wall in this Atlanta townhome, giving it a more urban feel. The thick, extra long curtains may be drawn to completely block out the natural light, adding to the moody feel created by the warm interior lighting.
Funky, Exposed Copper Piping Creates Steampunk Look in Shower
Inspired by his partner's love of steampunk style, designer Tomas Frenes selected exposed copper piping in a funky layout and set it against a backdrop of high-gloss black subway tile in their master bathroom shower.
Outfitting your lawn with a set of simple stripes isn’t that hard, and it’s good for your lawn, too. Light reflecting off of blades of grass bent in different directions create the dark and light patterns. The grass most often is bent down by the pressure applied by rollers attached to the back of a lawn mower. The pros use reel mowers with multiple rollers. You can buy striping kits for your mower, or if you’re handy and want to save some bucks, you can make one yourself with a little bit of PVC.
Contemporary Farmhouse Bedroom With Board and Batten Walls
This neutral contemporary farmhouse bedroom features board and batten walls, rich wood flooring, a large woven area rug, and a large bed with padded headboard flanked by two contemporary metal and wood nightstands.
No vessels laying around the house? No problem. Sometimes the best floral containers are those repurposed from everyday objects. For a fun and flirty springtime look, add wildflowers and fruit wheels to a clear glass vase. In order for the fruit wheels to sit up straight, you’ll need to add the floral bunch inside of the pitcher, then drop the fruit wheels in between the bunch and the glass.
Making the most of this loft's small size, a dining nook is a valuable addition to the living space. A window seat was turned into a banquette, while a pair of upholstered chairs round out the dining area's seating options.
Master Bedroom With Moody, Sophisticated Color Palette
Homeowner and designer Tomas Frenes opened the second-floor ceiling in his Atlanta townhome to expose the beams and give the home a more urban look, as seen in the master bedroom. A palette of grays and black create a sexy, sophisticated mood.
Instantly make your outdoor living room feel larger by outfitting adjacent spaces with furnishings in the same style and color scheme. While the covered area is meant for lounging and grilling out, the narrow area beside it has been designated for conversations in full sun.
Retro White Living Room With Bold Geometric Patterns
The white walls of this midcentury modern living room are livened with patterns and color in the furniture and decor. A striped rug complements the coloring of the patterned armchairs. Chevron and solid throw pillows and a set of sleek drawers add bursts of yellow color to the room.
Geometric lines converge to add interest to this pretty patio. Stone pavers underfoot are bordered by grass, bringing an organic element to the space that links it to the surrounding California foliage. Slatted wood overhead filters sunlight for relaxed outdoor dining.
