After: Gold Guest Bedroom Makeover with Slipcovered Headboard
Gold is a regal choice that demands attention in this once-overlooked guest bedroom. Glass and antique brass side tables give the room a more modern look, and are topped with lamps from a discount home store selected by Atlanta designer Jennifer Foster. A streamlined slipcovered headboard offers flexibility for future makeovers.
After: Master Bedroom with Plush Headboard and Bright Colors
An upholstered headboard adds plush comfort, and bright throw pillows tie yellow and red into the bedding in this Dwell with Dignity install. Designers Lisa Turner and Wallace Bryan of Trinity Mercantile and Design Company recommend picking pieces of furniture that go together but don’t match perfectly to get a designer look for any budget.
After a one-week redesign, this master bedroom received a major overhaul with a bright blue paint job and a stylish collection of varied patterns and prints. To lighten and brighten the room, the worn carpet was replaced with a whitewashed wood laminate floor.
After a makeover by Terracotta Design Build, the “room with a bed in it” is transformed into a neutral retreat that’s far from boring. “If your bedroom looks like a dorm room, the first thing you have to do is add a headboard, and it will be immediately grown up,” says Ili Hidalgo-Nilsson, architect and designer with Terracotta Design Build in Atlanta. Keeping the walls and furniture neutral allows you to infuse color with pillows and lamps, which can be changed out more affordably.
Modern Black and White Master Bedroom with Custom Black Headboard
Alison saved money in the master bedroom by installing light-colored laminate flooring rather than hardwood. She also created a custom headboard wall with trim and paint, adding a much-needed focal point in the previously cookie-cutter space.
After: Cozy Master Bedroom Mixes Neutrals with Bright Splashes of Color
Mix bright colors with earth tones. Designer Steve McKenzie, who owns Steve McKenzie’s in Atlanta, kept the bedding a soft cream so that the decor and colors could be changed easily without having to replace everything. The headboard and armoire are from AmericasMart.
Masculine Master Bedroom with Framed Fishing Lure Prints
To create more space in the master bedroom, Chip and Joanna and Fixer Upper team removed a wall. They then added custom pieces of furniture, such as the headboard and bench, and dark accents create a sophisticated, masculine space. To complete the masculine design, Joanna hung two framed pictures of fishing lures, adding personality.
Repurposed Church Window Creates Focal Point in Newly Renovated Master Bedroom
As seen on Fixer Upper, the newly renovated master bedroom has been transformed with a new, neutral color palette that makes the space feel clean and bright. Joanna chose to incorporate wispy fabrics to soften the space, while wood accents and twin table lamps warm the space. Joanna also repurposed an old church window as a headboard, which created a focal point in the space.
As seen on HGTV's Fixer Upper, Joanna decked this master bedroom out in neutrals, making the space feel bright and open. Wood accents, such as the custom made headboard and bench, create warmth in the space, making it inviting. A wood barn door conceals a master en suite that has also been remodeled.
Textured purple wallpaper adds depth to the space, while the upholstered headboard practically beckons you to try out the bed. "Love the wallpaper, love the purple, love the texture," said HGTV Star host David Bromstad.
