Contemporary Great Room
Space planning was important for designer Mary Bokovoy to make this great room function as a kitchen, dining and living space. She chose a round table, rather than an island, to give her client an eat-in space for dining.
This farmhouse overlooking the Snoqualmie River Valley in Washington now has the open, airy feel of a fire look-out tower in a national forest. The wall that previously stood between the kitchen and dining room were removed, which allowed the family to add a continuous ribbon of windows around the space. These windows allow tons of natural light into the space and help make it more sustainable. As a tribute to the beautiful forest around them, the family had a custom kitchen island crafted specifically for this space.
White walls and cabinets make this remodeled kitchen feel light and bright, and a rich wood island lends an appropriate dose of warmth. A vaulted brick ceiling adds depth and interest overhead, and a statement chandelier elegantly completes the look.
A fresh coat of light colored paint and sleek but cozy couches make a huge difference in the formerly drab room. The pops of color throughout and the unique art keep the space young and current. As seen on HGTV's Buying and Selling With the Property Brothers.
Custom built-in shelving is perfect for housing the homeowners' books, artwork and accessories. Gray carpet with a diamond print grounds the space, while comfortable orange chairs with a graphic pattern surround a contemporary coffee table.
This traditional craftsman home boasts a spacious deck area with medium brown wood planks and a curved white railing. A white pergola is positioned over a black metal dining set, providing a comfortable spot for enjoying the outdoors.
Asian Living Room With Decorative Fireplace Surround & Dark Textured Coffee Table
Bright natural lighting bounces off the light white and neutral surfaces in this beautiful Asian living room. A decorative fireplace surround adds some softness to the clean lines of the design. Textural ribs on the coffee table are a beautiful contrast to the light walls and rug. A large mounted plate, glass statue case and red trunk add Asian flair to the space.
Adding a single piece of original artwork is always a great way to start (or complete) a room design, and can take a family room from basic to stunning in the time it takes you to hang a picture. To highlight the unique artwork, keep other wall art to a minimum, and paint the walls white or another neutral hue to provide a backdrop for the art.
The ultimate girl's room, this bedroom features floral wallpaper in gray, pink and green that sets the tone for the color scheme. Black is a lovely contrast that adds drama to the space and makes the room feel more sophisticated for a teen girl.
A lone gray accent wall breaks up the white walls and windows in this stylish, modern California living room, bringing warmth to a cozy seating area. An Eames lounge chair and ottoman are placed to take advantage of the hilltop view, and colorful pillows and accent tables add punch to the space.
