Kelsey and Trip Purks purchased an older home with an outdated appearance, but it is in a great location and within their price range. The original exterior of the house was white-painted wood with red shutters and the landscaping was overgrown. They have asked Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines to transform the look of the home to better suit their style. Chip and Jo have repainted the siding a modern gray/green and the shutters black. They kept the original Dutch door and painted it with a faux finish to look like a dark stained wood grain. They updated the landscaping and added new grass, as well as a new walkway that matches the brick of the chimney.

A black vanity with glossy finish helps balance the shine of the sink and, with the mirror and architectural trim, anchor the design.
Contemporary White Eat-In Kitchen Looks Spacious & Bright
Renovating this kitchen from the 1930s into a clean-lined, contemporary space makes the room feel bright and open. A glass tile accent wall lets daylight in while keeping things private, and the modern barstools allow for a quick bite at the bar. Floor-to-ceiling white cabinets provide ample storage while keeping things tidy.
A small, built-in powder table with wooden drawer is positioned beside the spacious shower in this modern bathroom. A cushioned white stool with three brass legs gives the nook a punch of modern decor.
This Tuscan-inspired, contemporary covered patio stuns with large white columns, a decorative privacy screen and concrete slab floors. Two outdoor wicker seats with pink pillows share a modern table with wooden planks on the ceiling.
All new white cabinets and black marble countertops bring a modern look to the kitchen, and two hanging globe light fixtures illuminate the breakfast bar. The new refrigerator is located where shelving once was and a new faucet with an apron sink was installed. The kitchen is surrounded by a beveled subway tile backsplash, and a wooden awning brings color to the kitchen and shades the window overlooking the side yard.
Fun Preppy Banana Leaf Dorothy Draper Print as a Headboard
A summer day in Palm Beach is brought into a bedroom with the banana leaf-inspired print, Brazilliance, by Dorothy Draper and bamboo-patterned canopy drapes. The room designed by Parker Kennedy was in a Southeastern Designer Showhouse.
"We had been using our garage as a dumping ground for tools, lawn equipment, toys and discarded furniture for years," says designer Suzanne Dingley of Suzanne Dingley Interiors. But when her husband started his own business, the couple realized they had the perfect spot for a home office. They installed new windows, doors, floors, drywall, lights and insulation. "The garage had a peaked ceiling with rafters, which we chose to make a feature to bring some character to an otherwise rectangular box." Replacing the overhead garage door with two sets of French doors brought in light and charm.
