Open-Concept Kitchen With Glass Pendants
Because this kitchen is so open, the owners can cook dinner and still converse with loved ones in the other room. Three glass pendant lights hang over the island and ensure that the space is bright for meal-prep and conversation.
Luxurious, Contemporary Kitchen with Live Aquarium
A live aquarium creates a focal point, a conversation piece and an utterly unique backsplash in the kitchen of this New Zealand luxury estate. Black cabinetry and stainless steel appliances are neutral, allowing the aquarium to provide color in the space. Wood tones on the floor and on the island's butcher block countertop ground the space and add warmth.
The polycarbonate skin bathes the interiors in sunlight during the day, and the exterior terrace in a dramatic display of light at night. The homeowners absolutely adore the glow from the translucent walls.
Whimsical Wall Decal in Contemporary, Brown Bedroom
Used on a brown accent wall above a low headboard, a wall decal adds a touch of whimsy to this contemporary bedroom. A platform bed keeps a low-profile with simple bed linens and a sleek profile. Mismatched nightstands and teal lamps are fun bedside accents.
The bed tucks neatly into a niche between two stacks of built-in shelves in this bedroom, a neat design move that saves floor space. Faux fur pillows, a rustic wood bench and antlers mounted above the bed all nod to the home's Lake Tahoe location.
The house's main level centers around an open air living and dining room that seamlessly joins with patios and the gorgeous infinity pool. On either side of this space is a bedroom; the master suite perches on the floor above.
If you have solid but unremarkable builder-grade cabinets, the simplest route to a high-end look is adding some height with crown molding. Interior designer Sarah Macklem of The Yellow Cape Cod tackled this project in her own kitchen with striking results.
Located just off of the kitchen, this wet bar features ample cabinet space, including ones with a glass front that neatly showcase glassware. A marble tile backsplash is arranged in a herringbone pattern to create texture..
Distressed Natural Wood Bench Over White Shiplap Wall With Black and White Photos
White shiplap walls bring a beautiful, simple texture to the stylish set up of this hall space. A natural wood bench features a distressed finish with patterned throw pillows. Black and white framed art compliments the simplicity of the design approach while adding artistic intrigue.
All of the original windows were retained and given new window treatments. The hardwood floors were restored and all of the original shiplap exposed and painted white. Unpainted wood ceiling and exposed wood beams help distinguish the space and provide a warming accent, as seen on HGTV's Fixer Upper.
Wide, built-in shelves line both sides of the living room fireplace. Instead of filling them with lots of small items or books, designers selected one or two large items for each shelf creating a look that's rich with textural interest.
