Urban Garden in Industrial Cityscape
Yard, a project by 2.ink Studio, transforms an industrial building into a community space with a cascading urban garden, earning it an ASLA 2018 Honor Award. The greenery enhances the Portland, Oregon, cityscape.
Carefully curated with contemporary sculptures and fine outdoor furniture, this serene garden-style terrace offers an escape from the chaos of city living. Hydrangeas and European boxwood bring natural life and color to the space.
The garden terrace of this industrial-style building with residences and retail features pink and green perennials that capture the sunlight of Portland, Oregon. The bold integration of nature and steel earned this project, called Yard, by 2.ink Studio an ASLA 2018 Honor Award.
City Garden With Salvaged Wood Wall and Potting Table
In this small urban outdoor patio, a salvaged wood wall and potting table satisfy the city gardener. Climbing vines and potted plants, including a terrarium, create a lush space, while a candelabra adds ambiance for outdoor dining.
An African keyhole garden is basically a raised bed with a wire cylinder standing upright in the center. Most of these gardens have an opening that lets you walk into the bed and easily add materials to the cylinder. Flowers or veggies are planted in the bed, and as the materials decompose, rain or water from your hose carries nutrients and good organisms from them into the surrounding soil.
