French Country Kitchen with Large Island
The owner of this house was anxious for a space in which she could entertain, so an open concept kitchen was a must. While the kitchen design left her with an open feel, the homeowner needed more space to prepare food, so an oversized island with a prep sink was built in the middle of the space. The island has a breakfast bar which provides extra seating and a perfect place to entertain.
Inspired by a traditional Islamic garden, this outdoor oasis features lush plants, a symmetrical design, and plenty of water elements. The centerpiece is a stunning pool with fountain, lined in beautiful neutral tiles. Flowing urns, plenty of greenery and tropical-inspired plants evoke thoughts of paradise at home.
Modern overhead lighting and ample natural light make this kitchen feel bright and fresh. An elevated burl counter tops the island to maximize the counter space and provide a place for snacks and drinks.
Home Office and Reading Area Tucked Into Nooks in Deep Green Foyer
Small nooks in this foyer were transformed from dead space into a home office and reading corner. A small writing desk is sized appropriately for the corner tucked by the stairwell. Neutral colors were selected for the furnishings to work better with the walls painted in Sherwin-Williams Country Squire and the dark wood beadboard trim. The space is made more lively with colorful accessories, which are easy to swap as color and pattern styles change.
Black details — the perimeter countertops, cabinet hardware, oven and window frames — pop against the fresh white cabinets and backsplash in this stylish kitchen. The island features a striking gray marble countertop for additional contrast and interest.
