Through a colorful doorway and past a tastefully appointed parlor is a breathtaking living room. The dark stained floors, which run through the entire house, were laid by Julio, who taught himself the skills he needed to accomplish the job. The white masks that hang from the far wall are his creations as well. The masks offer a modern way to bring classic Angolan art home. The ornate fireplace, one of four hearths this home boasts, is original to the space, as is the decorative scrollwork that runs across moldings and ceilings in this room. The way that Kenza and Julio have maintained the architecture of the home, is a reminder not to remove or cover up original fixtures, but to instead accentuate them. Filling a traditional space with modern furnishings creates a unique contrast of styles that can add layers of sophistication to a room.
Children's bathrooms offer a chance for parents to throw out most decorating rules, instead trying something different and fun. Rather than adding one featured piece of art, the entire bathroom including its doors are covered with original pieces. The key to creating a whimsical look is to mix framed art with unstructured pieces as well as random objects, resulting in a saloon-style wall grouping.
All-White Contemporary Apartment With Personal Art Gallery
A custom wood and glass cabinet doubles as a display case in this art-filled, contemporary living space. A framed, original Andy Warhol print is a stunning complement to the piece and creates the feel of a personal art gallery.
Art Studio With Industrial Table and Chairs & Modern Artwork
This studio was designed as a workspace to create original artwork but also to showcase the client's art, artifacts and personal collections. While most of the furnishings in the room feel industrial, the lighted "Texas" sign brings a bit of folk art whimsy to the space. The rugged table and mismatched chairs provides a working surface for multiple people and projects, and pieces of modern art interjects color into the white room.
Art Studio Features Built-In Bookshelves, Leather Chairs & Patterned Rug
This unique space -- an entomology studio -- was designed as a workspace to create original works of art, and also to showcase personal collections. By keeping the walls white and the furniture simple, the homeowner can display multiple items without the space ever looking cluttered.
Roomy, Cape Cod Styled Kitchen With Crisp White Cabinetry
The main design objectives of this project were to retain the original footprint of the kitchen, bring more natural light into the space, incorporate state-of-the-art cooking appliances and create a classic Cape Cod design with a timeless color palette.
Taupe Living Room With Staircase and Rustic Cabinet
A storage sideboard fills the wall between the kitchen and dining area, offering space for media storage, shoes and more. An original painting by one of the room's designers, Shauna Williams, creates a high-end, art gallery feel, as seen on HGTV's "Flipping the Block."
Addison House worked with a local artist, Lara Gallardo, to create several original works of art exclusively for the penthouse, including the As Above So Below and Modern Balance, each speaking to the natural environment surrounding the project, such as bodies of water and city life.
Neutral Rustic Side-By-Side Bunk Beds
The young occupants of this room got their dream beds with these clever bunks. Shelves behind each bed are an ideal spot for the boys to showcase trophies, trinkets and toys. A magnetic panel behind the ladder creates the perfect backdrop for the latest original works of art.
This open living area provides space for a budding art collection that is functional for everyday life and entertaining. Within the constraints of the original footprint, the design team was able to remove walls, increase the size of glass doors and windows, rearrange closets and vault ceilings to create space out of seemingly nowhere.

The hotel retains the building's rich history while embracing a modern lodging aesthetic. The impressive Beaux Arts-style Great Hall serves as both the hotel’s lobby and the place where travelers wait for the train. This grand and bustling space includes Martini side tables from Restoration Hardware. The clocks are original while the dazzling chandeliers are impeccable recreations.
