Urban Cabin Reading Nook
Decatur is known for its distinct, historic neighborhoods, eclectic food, and vibrant downtown: it is not known for log cabins. My clients are the owners of this unlikely urban retreat and wanted to design a space that provided a TV-free zone to read, relax, eat, and play games as a family. This little reading nook is my favorite vignette. It is my client's favorite spot in the house. She has her morning coffee there daily. The chair was hers but the shelves were added to have storage and interest go up the wall and showcase their family pictures and items I sourced in flea markets all over Atlanta! The pouf and blanket were "must haves" from the very beginning.
To create visual interest within your Christmas garland, choose ornaments in an array of colors, sizes and textures. Here, shiny, matte, sparkle and textured baubles are paired together for a stylish array that really packs a punch.
Create fun holiday cheer at the base of the stairs by wrapping empty boxes with playful wrapping paper and ribbon. Take it a step further by placing a furry blanket underneath for that comfy and cozy Christmas feel everybody loves.
Neutral Southwestern Sitting Room With Orange Accents
The neutral walls of this sitting room are brought to life with the dark, beautiful colors present in the rug, seat cushions and throw pillows. The orange cushions add interest to the the tan armchair, and the same orange is echoed in a nearby throw pillow. A pair of thin matching chairs flank the fireplace.
Neutral Transitional Powder Room With Carved Stone Tile Wall
This small powder room off of the entryway features an accent wall outfitted with carved stone tiles in a wave pattern. A pedestal sink makes the most of the small space while opening up the room visually.
Modern Black and White Master Bedroom with Black Custom Canopy Bed
The master bedroom of Christina Anstead's newly renovated home features a high ceiling, plenty of light, and a metal bed frame, ceiling light fixture, and banister all custom built by husband Ant Anstead, as seen on Christina on the Coast.
The large solid oak cabinets that flank each side of the range are completely custom, made with dovetailing of joints for increased durability and strength. This tall pantry cabinet to the right of the range includes a semi-automatic espresso machine with an elegant black finish and stainless-steel accents, stylish coffee cups, dry goods and cookbooks to inspire tasty meals at home.
This master bathroom had originally been designed into sectional spaces, so light throughout was very minimal. By opening the floor plan and using pony walls and clerestory windows, natural light now fills the space consistently with the rest of the home. The extensive view in the remodel is now accessible from the main vanity, shower and bath areas.
A freestanding soaker tub offers understated elegance in the Atlanta Decorators Show House master suite bathroom. The soft pink and white patterned curtains behind the tub add a feminine touch to the transitional space.
