Indoor Basketball Court Connected to Workout Area and Open to Upstairs Entertainment Room
Double doors painted a bold orange compliment the orange tones of the basketball court art and the adjacent carpet in the workout room. The orange accents add a bright pop against the neutral walls and natural light from the uncovered windows. A glass half wall creates a railing for the upstairs living room while leaving it open to the court for a connected entertainment experience.
Open Concept Home Makes for a Great Entertaining Space
In this open concept space, the first section is home to a dining area whose rustic, wooden top table brings a relaxed vibe to the space. On the other side, a living area with wicker and metal furniture gives the space a beach feel, while the modern luxury of a television rests on a geometric shelf in the back of the space. Each of these spaces give the family a variety of ways to enjoy their space and the perfect, open area for entertaining.
An open floor plan allows for effortless entertaining, as guests can mingle in the living room or take a seat around the nearby dining table. Neutral furnishings in both spaces also encourage cohesion.
A great open floor plan in this man cave creates the perfect place for entertaining that is intimate, but not cramped. Guests can watch the game in the comfort of the sofas or while enjoying a drink at the bar, complete with its own keg system.
As seen on Love It or List It, Too. homeowners Neena and Jag entertain up to 30 guests at a time so they needed an open space that could accomadate large groups. Designer Jillian Harris created an open concept floor plan by rearranging the kitchen and dining rooms. A large driftwood table in the dining room offers ample seating.
The bench acts as a bridge between this open-plan design and can be used for groups in either or both areas without obstructing views. Plenty of plush furnishings provide comfortable seating for friends and family when entertaining.
The homeowners, who are avid entertainers, wanted the ability to open and close the living space to serve mixed functions: large parties, meditation evenings and intimate movie nights for their family of four. The custom modular sofa accommodates each purpose; it's designed to have no backs facing toward guests, which allows for free-flowing interaction between spaces.
The common spaces of this eclectic home are visually and physically connected, so anyone standing at the kitchen island preparing supper can still be involved in conversation and activities taking place in the living room. This design creates a lovely, open space that is perfect for entertaining.
Open Concept Home Creates Great Entertaining Space
A direct line of sight from the dining room into the living room creates a seamless flow for entertaining, while large windows in both spaces allow light and warmth to be prominent features of the home.
Thanks to this home's open floor plan, guests can simultaneously dine at the kitchen island and dining table without feeling separated. High ceilings, light walls and light floors help create the illusion of more space.
