Chef's Kitchen with Dual Islands, Transitional Style
This pristine kitchen features custom everything, from the marble backsplash that extends to the ceiling to the integrated appliances to the range hood to the dual islands, one for prep and one for dining. With their healthy, vegetarian lifestyle, this kitchen is truly put to work every day. The design features two islands: one island is reserved for seating and storage, while the other houses a prep sink and a very special butcher block pedestal that Lauren Levant designed especially for this project. Made from her sketch, a local woodworker created an original butcher block pedestal from a fallen local tree, with a removable chopping block set into it.
Space for storing items was relocated to the upper wall cabinets by the range, and there is also plenty of additional storage within the islands. An arched overhang on both islands allows for plenty of seating, and two different colors of glazed cabinetry serve to visually delineate the islands from the perimeter cabinetry.
