By sticking to a minimal, white color palette Tin creates not just a feeling of continuity from room to room, but a restful quality. "My life is so chaotic," says the graphic artist and owner of two product lines, Sushi Style and BeLOVED Life, "I wanted a place where I could relax." Says Tin of her home in the Pinewood development outside Atlanta, "you feel peaceful here."
A lamp base made from a metal gear and a burlap throw pillow accented with a vintage phone along with an exposed brick on the wall demonstrates Tin's characteristic mix of modern and old fashioned in this guest bedroom.
Chandeliers are a constant throughout Tin's home and give the space its airy, French, feminine feel. But the one in her master is especially eye-catching and modern. Windows on two sides of the room add to the room's open, opulent feel.
An open staircase with metal banister lend modern sophistication to this home. Though it's located in rural Georgia, outside Atlanta, the mixed-use Pinewood community attracts a fair number of creatives, including designers, actors and film industry types.
Mimi Tin has a view of Pinewood Studio's backlot where Avengers: Endgame and Ant Man have been shot, and can often see film shoots from her rooftop perch. "There would be some mild explosions throughout the week," says Mimi, matter of factly of the Avengers: Endgame shoot.
Tin has created a private garden sanctuary on the roof of her home featuring two daybeds and an array of trees and plants including lemon trees, tea olive, potato vine, creeping Jenny and gardenias, many of which lend fragrance to her rooftop garden.
Homeowner Mimi Tin created this "living" wall using dried moss affixed to canvas which occupies the landing between her master and guest bedroom. "I love bringing the outdoors in" says Tin. "It makes the space more ethereal."
