Transitional Living Room Showcases Original Fireplace
As the heart of the home, this transitional living room needed plenty of seats for friends and family. The designers responded with two neutral sofas, a cushioned armchair and a plush recliner positioned around a large wooden coffee table. They then pulled in an oil painting of two dogs to complement the owners' hunting trophies displayed on the opposite wall.

After the backyard transformation by licensed contractor Chip Wade, the Schroeder residence in Atlanta, GA now has a lot of function. An old playground is replaced with an art studio complete with a Dutch door, dog bed, sitting area and painting desk, as seen on HGTV and DIY Network's Elbow Room. Before the renovation, the Schroeder family lacked a place to play and make art.

The built-in bench is a homey touch; the marble table, hardwood floors and symmetrical arrangement keep the space feeling streamlined and elegant. The space also takes over some of the functions of the counterpart kitchen, featuring an espresso maker, a bar area and a wine refrigerator.
