HGTV Design Star: Midcentury Modern Living Room by Tym De Santo
Former HGTV Design Star contestant Tym De Santo created this living room with a midcentury modern take. Tym's designs have grown since his appearance on the show's first season: "Surprisingly (to me) my 'minimalist' approach to design has grown to include a warmer modern feel," he says. "I am using more texture and color to highlight my interiors, and I love it!"
This gorgeous kitchen design by David Stimmel features dining for four at the beautiful, dark wood dining table. Adjacent to the dining area, you'll find a wet bar with mirrored cabinets that's perfect for entertaining guests.
An eye-catching platform bed with lighting underneath both complements and emphasizes the striking hardwood floors in this simple Zen bedroom. Black-and-white art on the wall and yellow flowers on the nightstand add just the right personal touches to the space.
The look of this industrial modern kitchen is softened by designer Randy Weinstein with an ivory subway-tiled backsplash and contrasting rich wooden cabinetry around it. Four open shelves allow the backsplash more function by providing visible storage space, while adding a decorative quality with eclectic dishware and accessories.
This deck stretches the whole back length of the house. There's a large dining area at one end and a comfortable sitting area at the other. Blue and red accents are a cheerful complement to the home's tan siding.
Toile wallpaper and an ornate chandelier are among the glamorous details in this formal eat-in kitchen. Framed by a white mantel, the range boasts a patterned, gold backsplash. Pink Roman shades and pink chair cushions coordinate in this kitchen with decorative flair.
Sparkling damask wallpaper creates a stunning glamorous setting for this powder room. A pair of contemporary pendant lights flank a golden sunburst mirror for an eye-catching focal point. The curvy white vanity features gold fixture, bringing a feminine quality to the space.
