Cottage Style White Kitchen With Center Island
A wood-toned island warms up this cozy, cottage kitchen by designer Tobi Fairley. Rather than paint it white to match the rest of the cabinets, Fairley chose a chocolate stain to show off the wood's rich grain.Brilliant white floor-to-ceiling cabinetry not only brightens up the space, but it also adds essential storage. Glass doors at the top of the cabinetry create interest and provide a spot for displaying favorite dishware. A clever, shallow recess allows a pair of barstools to tuck neatly under the island when not in use.
The center island is paired with a trio of rattan barstools for breakfast or family to gather while fixing dinner. Traditional white cabinets combine with cool gray countertops and classic white subway tile backsplash for an open and airy kitchen design.
The large island that anchors the center of this all-white kitchen is a show-stopper for its ample work space and versatility of use. The island also accommodates the occasional floral arrangement or seasonal knickknack without obscuring the beauty of the room's clutter-free environment.
Traditional White Kitchen With Large Center Island
The traditional white kitchen provides access to the family room via the staircase. Floor-to-ceiling cabinetry provides tons of storage, while a rustic stone backsplash brings a country element to the space. The large center island is topped with white marble for a great workspace and family gathering spot.
White, Open-Concept Kitchen with Large Center Island
A wide doorway connects this transitional kitchen to the formal dining room beyond. The large center island features a flat top, with storage at one end and seating at the other. Meanwhile, a modern chandelier provides illumination for cooking, dining, homework and more. All white cabinetry and millwork give the space a clean, crisp look.
Crisp, white cabinetry paired with black soapstone and Calcutta marble sets the tone for this elegant, multi-functional kitchen and living area. The space is equipped with a baking center, banquette seating and glass cabinets wrapping around a corner to further defining the space. The style and millwork of the home were continued in the columns flanking the apron sink and featured detailing on the built-in snack bar.
The kitchen island features a built-in microwave, keeping the bulky appliance off the much-needed countertops. Along the back edge of the kitchen, a window seat and dining table make a cozy breakfast nook.
Hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines completely transformed the Jonklaas's kitchen by removing the wall to the dining room and creating a more open flow to the space. They decided to keep the original cabinets, but to paint them bright white and to add new hardware. Wood floors, granite countertops, a natural stone backsplash and stainless appliances were installed. The outdated wallpaper was removed and the walls were painted light blue. Two modern pendant light fixtures illuminate a new kitchen island, as seen on HGTV's Fixer Upper.
The pastel blue paint on the kitchen island makes a statement in this primarily white kitchen. Other pops of color, like the bright yellow lemons and green floral wall clock, help keep this cottage kitchen lively.
