Many of the residential properties on this lake have a boat dock. The Houghtons bought two lots, making room for a boat dock AND a second "party deck" (this was their wish, in two words!). So HGID designed this as a floating lounge, literally - comfy upholstered seating areas with a huge TV, swimming dock (they're wake boarding fanatics) and wet bar complete with a kegerator (they're fanatical for beer). Everything is upholstered in Sunbrella, including the outdoor drapery, which all gets a heavy hose-down in advance of every visit. The couple and their guests can nap, lounge, party and relax there. We're told the lake is a jet ski drag strip on the weekends, so good spectator seating!
White Transitional Kitchen with Classic & Modern Touches
This Victorian home features a fully updated kitchen sprinkled with both modern and classic touches. The design team expanded the space to make room for a mudroom, in the process opening it up to a flood of natural light. The large island, painted a contrast color to create a focal point, anchors the mostly white room.
Plenty of Space for Food Prep and Consumption in Large Modern Kitchen
This modern kitchen provides plenty of space for food prep as well as food consumption. Countertops line two sides of the kitchen, and a large kitchen island provides even more space for preparation. Once preparation is finished and the meal has been prepared, the large kitchen island seats seven-perfect for a night of casual dining.
In this long, contemporary kitchen, dual islands feature matching waterfall countertops. With white finishes and natural woods dominating the space, the bold blue accent color on chairs and inside the pendant lights stands out. Open shelving adds to the room's airy appeal.
Thick velvet curtains in rich fall colors were the palette inspiration for this master bedroom. The strong color is continued in the headboard and velvet chair. A dresser-turned-nightstand solves a need for extra storage.
Sliding glass doors and big windows frame in this living room's beautiful lake views. And the room is pet friendly, too. Designers customized the cabinets to include two ventilated dog kennels on the lowest level.
To better serve the needs of a family of 8, designers gave this kitchen a ton more storage and countertop space, including a large triangle-shaped island. The back side of the island seats three, so works well for homework, snacking or helping the chef.
This tasteful living room is surprisingly practical. Because it has easy access to the home's pool and hot tub, designers used Sunbrella outdoor fabrics to upholster the sofa and chairs. Damp swimsuits? Bring 'em on!
This dramatic foyer sets a razzle dazzle tone with lacquered wallpaper and glittery lighting and furniture. Wallpaper with a glossy finish like this one is a good way to bounce light around a small or dark room.
