Globally Inspired Living Room With Built-In Bookshelves
This family room features a diverse mix of fabrics, patterns and materials to create a globally-inspired, eclectic space. The deep midnight blue accent color on the ikat drapery is carried over to the hand-painted wooden plaques above the fireplace. The whole look is grounded with a large oriental rug and a classic-lined sofa. Accent furniture, including a unique hammered bronze metal coffee table, modern orange chair and classic wing-back chair complete the look.
In the center of the kitchen, a large island works overtime by providing space for meal-prep on one side and serving as an eat-in counter on the other. Butcher blocks flank the farmhouse sink and add a hint of warmth.
Save space by throwing out packaging, advises Clea Shearer, cofounder of The Home Edit, who recommends transferring items like granola bars and wrapped crackers into labeled bins. Or, shop in the bulk section when possible to skip cardboard boxes altogether.
In the kitchen, large windows and French doors with oversized transoms allow plenty of natural light into the kitchen, making the space feel bright and open. The white walls that anchor the space reflect the light, continuing the open design. To add warmth and color, red and white patterns were introduced into the space, creating a classic, space that is light and casual.
Transitional White Kitchen With Stunning Vaulted Ceiling
This spacious kitchen features all-over white cabinets that serve as a gorgeous contrast to a gray mosaic tile vaulted ceiling. An elegant chandelier enclosed in a glass cylinder hangs over the kitchen island, while white and light blue upholstered pub-style chairs provide casual dining space.
