Bright White Great Room With Open Layout
This stunning two-story room is absolutely breathtaking, joining with the dining room for a modern, open feel. “We wanted to keep it open, airy and light feeling,” says HGTV Dream Home 2015 interior designer Linda Woodrum. “That was a goal – to come into a very traditional home and have this real nice, light sense. We kept the palette very light.”
Ideal for entertaining, HGTV Dream Home 2015 expertly combines the dining and great rooms. Guests can sit and relax in the great room, enjoy dessert at the table, or mix and mingle throughout both spaces.
The new living room at the Pasquella home is filled with color and life. The walls that separated the kitchen from the dining room and living room are gone. The old carpet is replaced by wood floors. A new couch by CB2, and a new rug by Genevieve Gorder fill the center of the room that once had no furniture at all. Brightly colored flowers and pillows add that extra burst of color and contrast to bring the room to life, while large bay windows help to bring the space to life. As seen on HGTV's Kitchen Cousins.
As seen on Love It Or List It, Too designer Jillian Harris removed the wall separating the family room from the kitchen and dining room to create an open concept living space. She refaced the fireplace and lightened the room by using a light, neutral paint throughout. The outdated, overstuffed leather sofas were traded for a soft, grey sofa.
The open-plan, two-story living room centers on a large L-shaped sectional in bright white, hugging an immense metallic coffee table. Loft-style second floor space overlooks the room with seamless glass walls for safety and clear visual space.
The open floor plan combines the kitchen, dining room and living areas. Large windows allow natural light to pour into the space, while light-toned woods, gray upholstery and stainless steel finishes combine for a sleek, contemporary style.
The multi-functional space combines the living and dining rooms into one family-friendly space. A comfortable sectional pairs with neutral armchair and organic coffee table in the living space, while a stone fireplace adds warmth to the cozy dining room.
This living room is layered with bold colors and fun prints, spinning a fresh take on coastal style. Telescoping glass doors open to reveal outdoor living areas, which expand the living room's square footage during warm-weather months.
Bright, Transitional Dining Room Features Open Layout
A neutral color palette pairs with warm wood accents in this open, transitional living space. White leather chairs surround a lovely wood table in the dining area. Recessed lighting and a large light fixture above the dining table fill the space with light.
The French Country-style family room features windows or French doors on three sides of the space that open up to the wraparound garden and ocean view. The garden is filled with edible plants and show flowers, including cutting beds and climbing roses, citrus trees and lavender bushes, grape vineyards and raised vegetable beds.
As seen on HGTV's Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna wanted to make this family's living room brighter and more open, so they knocked out the walls that had once separated the living room from the foyer, creating an open concept floor plan. Then, Joanna added durable leather furniture to keep up with the family, a rustic buffet with a gallery wall to welcome guests into the home, patterned rug and pillows to make the space fun and bold pops of color to keep the space bright.
The open floor plan unfolds from the entryway into a elegant white living room. Traditional elements, like the fireplace and area rug, combine with more modern pieces, like the see-through coffee tables and neutral sofa, for a comfortable gathering spot.
A chic grouping of deep metal-framed chairs, a comfortable sectional and a black zig-zag chair surround a cool focal wall with wall-mounted flatscreen TV and sleek black fireplace. To the side of the fireplace is a spot for storing firewood, while all the media equipment is hidden in drawers below the TV.
