Jill and Josh Barrett were in search of "something different" in a new home. They found it in this house built in the modern style in 1959. Homes that can genuinely lay claim to the term "modern" — in the strict architectural sense — are a rare find in Waco, Texas. This one presented Joanna with an opportunity to branch into some new creative directions.
This is the exterior of the Phipps' home after renovation by the Fixer Upper team. The exterior was given a fresh update, a la Joanna, with gray-green paint, new shutters in natural wood finish, a new arched door and reworked columns with corbels.
Painting the brick facade white and unifying the patchwork of exterior finishes was the first order of business in this California home renovation. The design team added crisp black trim for a preppy East Coast vibe. Native landscaping adds softness, color and lushness to the facade.
