A custom mirrored focal wall houses a built-in ultra-thin flat-screen television in this contemporary bedroom. The mirrored wall plays up the soft neutral color palette in the room, making the space feel fresh and airy.
An ascent on the modern staircase leads to the second floor landing with a direct view of the eye-catching laundry room accent wall. “I think that wall is really the key, we were looking at that space knowing most of the time in the laundry room that door is left open and you’re looking at something that is not necessarily lovely. In this case there is a great piece of local art hanging on the wall when the door is open and you see the beautiful stainless tile, so the first impression of that space is much nicer and more contemporary,” says house planner Jack Thomasson.
As seen on Love It or List It Too, Jillian designed this bedroom with a light and airy feel. The focal wall in this space is done with wallpaper, while the neutral palette of the rest of the space compliments the colorful floral pattern.
For additional ambiance, the landscape architects outfitted the garden with an accent wall that doubles as a cool, cascading water feature. Lush green plants all around further the sense of a hidden oasis.
For additional visual interest, the Landform Design Group added an accent wall to the far side of the pool. With smooth island stone and seven "scupper" fountains, the piece is both eye-catching and relaxing.
As if this outdoor space weren't alluring enough, an accent wall with a TV and bar makes leaving nearly impossible. A metal chandelier draws interest to the textured ceiling overhead, while curtains can be pulled out to block the wind.
Bring the outside in and cover an interior accent wall and add warmth and texture to your space. The windows are large and strategically placed to capture the views out as well as getting light into the various spaces.
The idea for this funky wall was a collaborative effort from the HGTV Smart Home 2014 design team. "We wanted to really go crazy behind the headboard," says interior designer Linda Woodrum. Painting boards in complementary hues highlights the bed and creates an eye-catching focal point.
