The powder room’s white pedestal sink has a deep V-shaped basin and a contemporary style. It’s paired with a mirror that has a linen white wood frame with a catalyzed conversion varnish that offers a durable moisture-resistant finish.
A custom vanity in rich Jacobean-stained alder with a marine varnish sets off fresh white sinks and vintage-inspired fixtures in this traditional bathroom. The focal point of the space is the collage of mirrors, which breaks up the large wall above the vanity in a new and exciting way.
The roomy double vanity offers lots of user-friendly drawers and provides organized storage for bathroom essentials. Wall-mounted mirrors with linen white frames above the vanity have a catalyzed conversion varnish that offers a durable, moisture-resistant finish. The tall mirrors help to raise the eye in this light and airy space with a vaulted ceiling.
Made with animal hairs, these paint brushes are used for applying oil base paints, varnishes, shellac, polyurethane and other oil base finishes. The natural "flagging" (splitting or fuzzy tips) of these brushes creates split ends in the bristles that hold more paint and helps assure a smooth paint release and finish.
For the kitchen of a vacation house in Portland, Ore., designer Michelle Ruber of Encircle Design and Build wanted a stylish and low-maintenance material that would stand up to a high-traffic environment. She found her solution in an unlikely place: “The backsplash is the old pony wall in the basement that was removed during the remodel,” she says. “We had the wood planed and then applied it to the backsplash, which brought in a warm feel and history of the original structure. We used a durable marine-grade varnish to protect and properly seal the wood.”
