The new dining room of the Libby family's home is bright, cheerful and colorful. Newly painted chairs, a refinished table top and centerpiece make this dining room area look modern and cool. As seen on HGTV's Cousins Undercover.
This contemporary dining room balances masculine features with feminine details, such as metallic finished walls, white tray ceiling with contemporary pendant chandelier, rustic wood slab dining table, and soft neutral upholstered dining chairs.
Tucked behind the living room sofa, a long wood table and eight chairs create a formal dining space for the owners. Notice how the designers took cues from the lake outside and finished the chairs off with cushions in a beautiful green-blue color.
Bergère chairs are iconic to classic French interiors. Known for their deep, wide seats, loose cushions and padded armrests, bergère chairs continue to remain popular both for stylistic and comfort reasons. For this makeover, to put a fresh spin on a pair of bergère chairs found at an estate sale, their wood frames were stripped, then refinished with black oil paint in a semigloss finish.
Black fur trimmed with green and a nail-head finish back these stylish dining chairs. The green shade makes a larger statement from the seat cushion, also finished with nail-head trim. These textures come together in a black wood frame.
The cherry red bed frame stands out against the white walls and black and white bed linens in this bedroom. A black and white striped rug compliments the bed linens. A simple wood chair is finished with a fish scale patterned throw pillow. White roman shades provide natural light control.
As seen on HGTV's Beach Flip, the finished downstairs guest bedroom of the Southwind condo, designed by Lucy and Daphney, is now a multifunctional office and workspace featuring a rustic wood and metal desk with a red accent chair.
This bedroom, as seen on HGTV Design Star, has a colorful personality with bright tangerine walls. Multicolor bed linens peek out from below white comforters to add more color and contrast to the space. Two modern rocking chairs provide relaxing seating by the fireplace. One of Bret Ritter's contributions to the room is a graphic wall hanging that says "Relax" above the fireplace. While the piece ties in the wooden shelves around the room, the judges are not impressed with the unfinished artwork.
This eclectic neutral dining room features white and gold patterned chairs with gold burnished wood trim, surrounding a walnut table with a colorful arrangement of natural elements and stylish candlesticks. A unique brass chandelier draws the eye to the focal point of the room, while antique-finished mirrors pair with a white and gold buffet table and vintage accessories to add visual interest to the opposite wall.
A wooden desk with an unfinished edge is a gorgeous, natural choice for this contemporary home office. Orange found in the window treatment, chairs and bookshelf is the ideal accent color for such a warm, inviting space.
In this contemporary kitchen, a unique glass-bulb chandelier hangs from the ceiling over a dining table made from an unfinished piece of wood. Neutral leather chairs surround the table, and a wood scrap centerpiece continues the nature-inspired look. The long kitchen island features patterned wood panels under a large wood range hood.
Black velvet curtains, black leather chairs -- this eclectic dining room doesn't shy away from making a dramatic statement. Down the center of the room stretches a long, wood table with unfinished edges, a rustic, oddly ideal touch.
This traditional blue dining room is bordered by a set of four white columns. The space features a wood parquet floor with a pink rug. White crown molding and wainscoting give the space a finished look. A chandelier hangs above the wooden dining table, which is surrounded by upholstered white dining chairs.
As seen on HGTV’s Fixer Upper, a wall was removed between this kitchen and dining room, creating an airy, open-concept feel. Cool blue walls with white trim lend a modern vibe to the dining room, while the refinished wood floors preserve its original charm. An elegant chandelier casts soft light over the distressed wood table and chairs.
Make a big statement for a relatively small chunk of change with a graphic rug. A rug can also ground your furniture arrangement and give the living room a more finished look. This gray and white graphic rug compliments the dark blue sofa and light blue chaise. A neutral chair and natural wood coffee table create a calm look to finish off this contemporary space.
Add a special treatment halfway up the wall, to cut your costs. Tile or wood paneling, which can be cheaper, gives any bathroom a certain finished style. Designer Stephanie A. Bruntz of Studio B Design used tile in this National Kitchen + Bath Association winning bathroom, but also suggests using beadboard. If you opt for beadboard, she suggests adding chair rail around the room and a standalone backsplash above the vanity. “It would be faster to install and less expensive on the material purchase,” says Bruntz, who lives in Nebraska.
