This clean, modern bathroom features neutral walls and floors, with design distinction coming from accent tile and a standout contemporary tub. Cabinetry is clean-lined, as is the architecture, and a brown and beige color palette brings warmth to the space.
A brick barrel ceiling with rough-hewn beams sets the tone in this Mediterranean-style kitchen. The hefty range hood is framed by a muted stone hearth and tumbled tile backsplash, while a large island offers storage and functionality in the eat-in kitchen.
This foyer rotunda comes to life with a hand-painted ceiling edged in a band of specially-commissioned blown glass, creating a kaleidoscope of vibrant hues. The Italian travertine flooring with gold veining initiates in the foyer. An accent back of Jerusalem Gold travertine, augmented with another band of charcoal glass-tile inserts, mimics the oval architecture of the space.
The floor and wall surfaces in this master bathroom are clad in travertine-style porcelain tile, lending a sandy, beach effect. The light green accessories and beach-themed artwork add to the coastal feel.
Rebecca Pogonitz incorporated travertine and pebble tile into the shower design for an organic quality. Enclosing the walk-in shower with glass opened up the narrow area between the double vanity and the shower doors.
Designed as a modern relaxing Mediterranean oasis, the hot tub is surrounded by travertine stone and accented with brilliant blue tiles. A cedar pergola provides shade, while the homeowner's collection of eclectic pottery and statues add a personal touch.
A sleek double vanity is topped with neutral travertine countertops, integrated stone sinks and matching circular mirrors. The large walk-in shower uses porcelain tile with a bamboo effect to add visual height, while a glass block window streams in natural light.
The trim in this foyer space got a fresh coat of white paint, walls got a coat of an airy gray paint, travertine floors were replaced with a matte oak flooring and an inset marble tile creates a sense of understated grandeur.
A large central island provides ample storage in this open kitchen. The custom terrazzo-blend island countertop features repurposed glass bottle shards from nearby restaurants for a personalized touch. Contrasting tumbled travertine and glass mosaic tile add depth and definition to this kitchen's warm color palette.
Travertine-style porcelain tile and clean white surfaces define this spa-like master bathroom. Here, the four-drawer scalloped chest -- a stunning storage unit for undergarments -- is topped with a collection of faux mercury-glass candlesticks. Nearby, a 2-foot-deep soaking tub offers a spa-style bathing experience. A picture window connects the space to the natural wooded outdoors of the property.
Sometimes, a storage unit can play more than one role in a space, as in this contemporary master bath designed by Alisha Hillary. “The towel caddy was installed between the vanity and the toilet primarily to stop the view straight to the toilet when walking into the bathroom,” says Hillary. “It also serves as a great spot to store hand towels or candles and other small decorative items. The small stone feature tile running up behind the caddy references back to the travertine on the floor.”
