A transom window draws the eye up toward the vaulted ceiling detail in this luxurious master bathroom in a Martha's Vineyard home. Marble tiling is used on both the floor and backsplash for a cohesive look, and soft blue tones evoke the view of the ocean and sky outside.
This classic, black and white family room uses elegant French doors with matching transoms to create a bright, white space. These features allow plenty of natural light to flow into this large room, creating a spacious and vibrant look. To warm the white space, black accents were added, creating a warm, inviting place to relax and entertain. Patterned curtains and chairs were used to soften the contrasting black and white color palette, while a white, high armed sofa and a black and white coffee table anchor the space.
A rectangular window higher up on the wall of the front of this outdoor sauna acts as a transom window to bring in light and give some definition to the outdoor room. Glenn Auerbach, a Minnesota sauna builder who blogs at SaunaTimes.com, also says a transom gives people using the sauna a panoramic view.
