Behind the AGA wall is a small pantry, complete with a Sub Zero Pro fridge. The unit is artfully placed so that it can be seen from the main room, because a fridge like this is not to be hidden from view. Its rugged looks complements the more rustic elements of the kitchen.
A spacious, two-tiered island creates a functional area for snacks, meals and conversing with the cook in this custom, family-centric kitchen. Wood panels sheathe the Sub-Zero fridge, flanked by built-in appliances.
The home has the ultimate dream kitchen with a 6-burner Wolf gas range and pot filler, double Wolf ovens plus convection/micro oven, built-in steamer, coffee systems, double Sub-Zero fridges with four freezer drawers and multiple warming and cooling drawers.
Storage isn't a problem in this kitchen. Glass-front upper cabinets, open shelving and a full-size pantry opposite the Sub-Zero fridge offer style and storage. Contemporary track lighting against a paneled ceiling draw the eye upward in the narrow space.
A family of seven needs a lot of space, so to make the most of this kitchen's square footage, a custom island was designed around their dining table. With a banquette (made of easy-to-clean vinyl!) the family now had a spot to hang out and grab a snack or casual meal. In open floorplans, use the island to separate the kitchen area from the living area. Then if you already have a mid-sized appliance or bookshelf, take a cue from designer Diane Forman. A 24-by-15-inch Sub-Zero wine fridge makes up the end of this bar in her 2016 National Kitchen + Bath Association Competition winner. It creates a raised divider that hides the bustle of the kitchen from the living area while keeping kitchen utensils at hand.
In the remodeling of this living space, a new open concept plan—and clever design strategies—allowed for a chef-grade kitchen, dining area and family room to flow seamlessly together. A long narrow dining table tucks neatly against an L-shaped banquette. In the family room, a large sectional handily covers seating needs.
