Relax and unwind after a long day's work in this master bath. Beautiful mosaic tile surrounds the bathtub, and above, a crystal chandelier brings a touch of elegance to the space. A fireplace beside the tub completes the sophisticated design.
Fiberglass soaking tubs, while functional, can appear as eyesores. Since the soaking tub is properly scaled for the space and in fine working condition, it was left in place, then updated with subway tile cladding as the walls. In order to create a seamless look, the front of the tub was framed out with two-by-four lumber, then covered with backer board before being tiled and grouted.
The deep soaking tub is accented with a pretty blue and green mosaic tile surround that is reminiscent of the sea. A sleek, horizontal faucet streams water into the bathtub, giving off a waterfall effect.
To liven up the look of this neutral bathroom, designers used a mix of different-shaped tiles: small mosaic tiles for the backsplash over the bathtub, larger bricks in the shower. The tub surround and countertop are thick slabs of luxurious marble.

In a waterfront property on the far eastern edge of Shelter Island, N.Y., architect Jack Wettling used a palette of crisp white accented with sea blue to create a relaxing master bathroom. “The colors draw in the views from the picturesque Coecles Harbor,” he says. A judicious use of high-end stone — in the marble tub surround and a narrow marble border on the wall — lends a luxe look without breaking the bank.
Gray Terrazzo tile lines the floors of this master bathroom, while white subway tiles house the luxurious tub and its surrounding walls. A sheepskin rug softens the space, while a vase of fresh flowers brightens the neutral color palette.
