The most imposing aspect of Brian’s design is probably the golden, hand-crafted cherry blossoms that hang all the way down the staircase to form a 30-foot suspended mobile. In the midst of admiring the mobile, it’s easy to miss the smaller details: Grass cloth wallpaper, hand painted faux paneling and the baby blue custom carpet, which—when looking down from the top floor—“looks like a fan,” Brians explains to HGTV.com.

An almost filmic, sci fi moment—like something from a Stanley Kubrick film—is created in this Color Form stairway which takes advantage of some remarkable tile and a scalloped light fixture to create a visual story and dramatic interlude.
Oliver Hospitality principal Philip Welker calls the Hotel Clermont's staircase one of the features of the hotel he is most proud of. "We were able to find a fire code solution that allowed the staircase arches to be re-opened on each floor, as it was originally. And the restoration of the terrazzo steps, plaster walls, and wood handrail feels exceptional," says Welker.
The grand stairway in the foyer greets visitors with open arms. In an effort to make it welcoming instead of overwhelming, Pineapple House Interior Design painted the ornate trim the same color as the ceiling, which gives it a lift instead of feeling heavy.
