Light wooden tones are echoed in the balustrades and the underside of this multi-story stairwell for a thoughtful design touch. The sleek and spare stairs are adorned only by the geometric lines of the railings and a single piece of artwork.
White two-column balusters guide the wood banister between decorative wood newel posts. Natural light over the pastel sea green walls and white window trim makes for a light space. A dramatic cascading chandelier lights a curving staircase in this luxury Miami Beach retreat. Sinuous lines characterize this space, emphasized by the circular design of the mosaic tile floor and the round pedestal table. A soft, neutral palette gives the space a relaxed, yet elegant feel.
The Capitol Hill Residence stair is centrally located in the light filled entry hall. Overhead is a sloping translucent roof that fills the core of the house with daylight. In order to maintain the function of this space, the stair needed to allow light to pass though it and filter all the way into the basement. In addition, we wanted to maintain a visual lightness to the stair through the use of materials and a simple, yet elegant form.
Eric Gedney wanted to increase the light levels in the central circulation space. He achieved this by inserting a series of glass panels on the main staircase to reflect and funnel light down from the skylight above. The glass panel theme ties the Master Suite and Viewing Decks together.
A narrow doorway separates the foyer into two distinct areas. A winding staircase leads to the second floor, and also downstairs to the basement. In addition to the natural window light, a cylinder pendant light hangs above to brighten the space.
This powder blue foyer features traditional wainscoting paired with a blend of hardwood floors and gray-blue floor tiles. A white table lamp and green vase of flowers sit atop a dresser that serves as a console table, while a chandelier illuminates the stained glass window. A staircase leads the way to the upstairs area.
Large windows allow natural light to illuminate this staircase, showing off the natural hardwood and cable railing. A contemporary chandelier with glass globes hangs above, while framed black and white photograph is featured in the landing.
